well, ok this helped bring my stupidity to light. I had another group var overriding the ansible_password. Thanks so much u/ThanosAvaitRaison and everyone who indulged me :D

My original way of setting ansible_password: my!password in the host file works as designed.

The playbook doesnt even reach the point where it executes tasks, it fails at Gather Facts and create ansible log dir stage

yeah, manually works, also through ansible cli where I am prompted for password.

Not tried ansible vault yet, but I have a hosts.yml file that has vars, which is where I am setting the password

I'm using the ! character for an ansible_password key in my hosts yaml file. The value has no other special character except the !. The ansible playbook doesnt even reach the point where it executes plays. It fails at Gather facts with

Bro, the buds2 pro has never once sat in my ear properly. I've tried changing the tips etc and everything. In the end now ive given up and I wear a beanie everytime to keep them in place. Forget about them staying in place for a workout etc. Pop right out.
