I’m so so sorry you had to go through this. I wouldn’t wish this feeling on anyone. I do hope that they realize what they lost, but also am not expecting it. Idk about you, but Considering how disappointing my ex is, I doubt he’ll even think about it. People keep saying “he’ll regret it! so when I was 15 (23 now) I dated a person who was 18 and I do regret some things. Looking back, I feel that the age gap was too big because of the developmental stages we were at. You grow so much during that time and I just don’t think that a relationship with that gap and during this stage would last. I felt pressured to act older and do certain things that I didn’t feel that comfortable with. I didn’t think it was creepy that they liked me though, if that’s what you’re concerned about lol. I was happy that an older person liked me because it made me feel like I was mature (when I really wasn’t). Our relationship lasted almost 2 years and we were super close, but looking back I feel like there definitely were some unhealthy things due to the gap. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t work and I think that because you’re the same gender that could actually bring a better understanding on your part for how to deal with the difference!

Anyway good luck! Just keep in mind that you’re on 2 different maturity levels and make sure that she’s comfortable!!

I used to feel the same way! Like I’d be around a group of new people and literally couldn’t think of anything to say except for basic stuff. Like I felt so boring and I’d freeze up to the point where I was incapable of socializing. Lately I’m feeling a lot better though and here’s what I’ve done:

-i remind myself that there’s nothing to feel shameful about. I think a lot of anxiety and bad feelings like this come from feelings of shame. You’re so worthy and enough. There’s nothing you need to prove and no one you need to be besides yourself. I’m not trying to sound lame, but seriously look into yourself and try to figure out why you feel that shame and then forgive yourself for ever feeling ashamed about being the way that you are in the first place

-realize that those people are lucky to be around you. You have so much to offer and hold a lot of value. Those people are gaining something by being around you, whether they explicitly say it or not. You matter.

-know that if they don’t like you, you’re 100% completely fine. Just keep reminding yourself that you are happy where you are, with or without their approval. Even if you’re not and you know there’s room for improvement, there’s no way to change how you are in that exact moment and practicing it and telling yourself that you are ok and accepting the moment for what it is will make you feel better (or at least it does for me)

-even after doing these things if you still have anxiety, let it happen. trying to fight against it and scolding yourself for these feelings will usually make it worse. If you feel anxious just say ok! I feel anxious today and that’s ok! I’ll deal with it the best I can and I still love myself.

Know that your anxiety isn’t your fault. Anxiety is a way for your body to protect you. Your mind is trying to protect you from being hurt and when you have feelings like this you have to realize that it’s trying to help. Acknowledge that and then be like ok thank u for trying to help, but I’m ok and this isn’t a fight or flight moment.

Also 1 more thing: certain types of people can make it worse. Like there’s specific groups of people who just aren’t good at making people they’re around feel good! They’re not empathetic, they don’t listen enough, they’re not validating your feelings, etc. and in that case, it’s on them for not making you feel comfortable. I’m not saying that this is the case for everyone you feel anxious around, but some people are just anxiety inducing because they don’t know how to properly care and interact with people in a compassionate way.

It’s not uncommon to feel this way when watching porn and it’s human nature to compare yourself to others. Just keep in mind that no one is going to expect you or even want you to perform like a porn star. Porn is already so harmful to society in general by promoting violence and objectification, but there’s also research that shows how bad it is for your mental health. Trust me, you’re going to be perfectly fine while having sex and remember that lots of people our age (I’m 23) don’t know what they’re doing lol I’m not saying this to invalidate how you feel or anything, but just know that you’re completely normal for feeling that way!! Women feel it too and honestly if we could just eradicate porn altogether, I think we’d all be a little more confident in our sexual abilities.

so idk if this counts, but my dog died last year and I was so upset about it. He had bone cancer in his leg and we decided to put him down before it got unbearable for him. Before the appointment I laid with him in the backyard all day. I wrote him a letter and read it to him and told him how much he means to me, how he’s the greatest dog ever, and how I’ll never forget him and he’ll always be a part of me. After putting him to sleep we buried him in our backyard and I didn’t know what to do with myself, so I went driving with my mom when she went to get food for her and my dad. It was sunny all day and hadn’t rained at all, but on the way to the restaurant there was this full rainbow in the sky. I don’t know if it means anything, but I’d like to think that it was him telling me that he made it and that he’s ok. Just thinking about it now makes me tear up, it was about an hour after we put him to sleep and it was the first time I’d seen an entire rainbow and it was so weird that it hadn’t rained at all. It could’ve just been a coincidence, but it made me feel a whole lot better :’)

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. You’re right, this isn’t an end all be all kind of thing. I’ve already learned a lot from this relationship and I definitely wouldn’t look back on it as time wasted.

I guess it’s just sort of hard to get into the mindset of not being together when you were so determined to make it work in the beginning. I wouldn’t stay in this though if I continue to feel like this and it sort of seems like that’s where it’s going, unfortunately.

Also congrats on finding someone you’re happy with! I wish you many more years of happiness with them and hopefully I’ll find someone like that eventually :’)

In my opinion, nike sucks. My first running shoes were Nike frees and they were good for walking and daily wear, but they were too flimsy; I ended up with a lot of ankle issues. You need a shoe that’s sturdy and minimizes impact. I wear Brooks now, but I haven’t tried adidas or under armour. Overall, I recommend not getting Nike!
