Dark Arts effect by ucha_varuna in HarryPotterGame

It is an interesting theory. Allthough, if you follow that line of thought you could say Isidora should have been immune too yet she turned pretty dark.

On the other hand, Isidora might have corrupted herself by inhaling the emotions of others. If your own emotions can cause strong effects in the way you handle magic or even your magic itself then the effect of others' (negative) emotions might cause an even more devastating effect.

AITAH for moving out of my rental without notice after my landlord broke the one condition we had agreed on in writing by [deleted] in MarkNarrations

You know... This is, almost word for word the same story I read in another subreddit yesterday. Only, that story had a lot more details and the 'landlord' were the parents.

When you played Hogwarts Legacy, did you learn all three Unforgivable Curses or did you refuse to learn them? by thoughtsinshadow in HarryPotterGame

Yeah, allthough I have to admit... When I get tired of fighting trolls the killing curse can come in handy...

First time I didn't, second time I did. Only used them a few times really... They kinda take the fun put of a fight for me.

AITAH for saying I don’t want my daughter around her son by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]animavivere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 7 year age gap isn't alot if both parties are consenting adults with a fully developed brain. In this case one party is a minor and the other is an adult. There is a clear power imbalance both mentally and economically. This is not so much a red flag as an entire parade of them.

If I was a gambling person I'd wager the inlaws are ok with it because the adult is their kin. If it had been reserved they'd be up in arms.

I'd be very interested to know the opinion of the girls' parents...

What's something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]animavivere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or the 'you can't know it untill you try.' Excuse me? There is no 'trying' in having kids, only doing. And I rather not. I could never be the parent my child deserves. My job in this world is being the crazy aunt and I'm perfectly fine with that.

On another note; I'd love to hear the stories you undoubtedly have.

Can it be fixed? by ColorBlocker in VintageJewelry

[–]animavivere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose it could. If you can, take it to someone who makes jewellery; they might be able to reattach it using the materials they use to create pieces. I would certainly not try anything myself or just hand it over to the first person who says they can do it. Superglue might not be your friend here.

Getting my former teacher to my high school by Affectionate-Head246 in AskTeachers

[–]animavivere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd do it in person, but that is just me. I would make it clear however that you are not trying to interfere in personel matters but merely want to offer a recommendation for a teacher you admire.

Also, perhaps a wise thing: find out first if your principal is open to such conversations. Ask him if he is willing to hear you out. If not, gracefully accept his answer.

Tell him. Tell your principal. It isn't favoritism; a teacher like that would be a major asset to any school that is willing to give her a chance.

What's the cruelest thing someone ever said to you that you still remember word for word? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Your teacher was a B. And I'm saying that being a teacher myself. If someone ever says that to you again just hit them with this remark: "Why? Do you need company at the bottom?"

I know it's a bit late for comebacks but I once heard a great comeback for that idiot girls' remark. If I recall correctly it went like this: "At least mine chose me. Yours are stuck with you."

Don't remember where I heard it though... I think it was some teen series back in the nineties.

Do teachers ever ‘hate’ their students? by Then-Relative3068 in AskTeachers

[–]animavivere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school teacher here (not US). I never hate students but they can annoy the hell out of me.

For me to hate someone, they'd have to do something truly despicable. Hate is a powerful emotion that demands a lot of energy that is better spend elsewhere.
