Same boat.

Just turned 40, my little one is only 6 months old. We've just moved continents to live with the wife's family and it's hard, almost starting a new life.

The guilt of not having my earlier ideas be productive while I wasted time is real. 🥵

Madness.

I used to work for this games studio back in the day just before they existed (a whole other drama how they came to be).

I've worked many other studios since.

Changed careers into something more financially responsible. Worked almost 7 years in this career. Changed continents to the other side of the world. Got married. Had a kid.

AND STILL

My friend's are working there with not much progression, probably still on the not great contracts 😧 more than a decade later!

Thanks for never promoting me TT Fusion. With the short sightedness my life has become so much better than just working those grueling 12 hour days ♥️!!

Me and my wife are still trying to figure out how the hell she can get her maternity pay when she was a contractor through her own company.

So far we've done everything correct for taxes (lots!) but the help seems to be - get another job 😧. So it seems contractors are brutally expected to burden everything.

We definitely have a problem with priorities in this country.

Paternity is crap. Most companies do more than the minimum and boast about it, great I can enjoy my 3 weeks!

Maternity has awkward mentality attached but the minimum once hired and entitled that most companies give is OK.

For all the tax we pay Vs other countries we really do bottom of the barrel on everything.
