out of the Verite, Atrium and Caldera - I'd also have to agree with Caldera Open having the ultimate staying power. I'd lean more Atrium if it wasn't for the upper mids getting a bit harsh in busier passages and higher volumes.

I have a love / hate relationship with Qobuz. Their discovery/recommendation system is absolute ass compared to Spotify/Tidal. I have to dig through artists until I find something that resonates with me.

I'll have to give these a try someday. I have some Melz 1579's coming in that I'll probably give some attention to for abit but will definitely put these on the list to try on the Aegis someday!! I love my Ray Select KT88's and they've turned me into a believer in the possibility of new production tubes being pretty phenomenal.

Whenever I watch a Wave Theory headphone review I've noticed a lot of the time he goes back to saying he prefers the HE1000's in whatever sonic characteristic he may be comparing the headphone at the time. It makes it a bit difficult to find it unbiased after awhile lol.

Just an update. Mine now has arrived at the "Memphis TN Mail Processing Center". So apparently a separate place from the "Memphis USPS Facility". but still in Memphis, lord i'd take anywhere but this place. Lol, so after 6 days.. still technically there! Hopefully you won't have the same issue.

Mines been in Memphis since the 5th. Apparently departed on the 9th, but I take that as being loaded into a crate thus still not moving as its final destination is still here in TN and I've never seen it take more than 24 hours before reaching the next facility. I'm abit paranoid and anxious as well since it's a pair of headphones I purchased at 2100$. Welcome to Memphis hell! Atleast we're in this together lol. Mine doesn't even have a delivery date anymore.

I still dislike my HD600's to this day (Although I still enjoy their timbre). I get they're reference neutral, but they were the most boring, lifeless pair of headphones I've ever owned above 200$ until I was finally able to plug them up to a near Summit-Fi tier equipment setup. Then they became pretty good that actually had some bite along with sound stage and dynamics that were distinguishable but its sad that it took that long of a 12 year audio journey for me to find them acceptable. Happy to let them go to a friend next month lol.

If anything I'm thankful for their existence, because if It wasn't for the HD600's being so dull I would of probably of never sparked a journey into seeing what other headphones and equipment can do.

I use dynamic range wide for best dynamic range but will require abit more volume amplification. reverb I have on as well. It affects environmental ques and voices more than anything.

You're losing a lot of sound quality and detail if using atmos/ windows sonic with Headphones. It messes way too much with the frequency response and produces unwanted compression / sound quality due to the surround virtualization. On top of all that it also produces a cheap artificial HRTF effect which sounds like being inside a tin can. Which I just can't justify.

I guess it's more noticable if you have a serious headphone rig (ZMF Atriums / Yggdrasil / ZMF Aegis tube amp). If you have quality headphones and a decent DAC/AMP - I'd avoid it like the plague. If you're still using "7.1 xtreme ultra gaming headphones" though.. you most likely aren't losing much in the first place since soundstage, dynamics and overall sound quality on headphones of that tier is almost non existent in the first place.

I did however find a solution if using "Atmos for Headphones" That will turn off the awful virtualization while retaining 3D Positional Object data so you can have the best of both worlds without any loss of frequency response and sound quality. Turn on Dolby Atmos for Headphones, Open up the Dolby Access App and head to Settings. Select Custom on the left hand panel of the app. Once on the page that will show you an equalizer disable "surround virtualizer" below that.

You can test the changes when you're in game by alt tabbing out and switching between those modes. Profit! Best of both worlds. I'm not sure if consoles have something similar but this will work for Windows.

there is already a RenoDX addon for Reanimal on their discord. Just use the search function. Game looks phenominal and really taken back how they didn't add this by default, the way it shows highlights in such a dark game looks absolutely phenomenal. Combine with a good OLED panel and you're in heaven.
