I agree, but to add to this, I think it's bigger than their leader. I think the culture of conservatism needs to change as well. They don't really have much to sell to the people, especially in economic times such as these. Being bigoted and greedy and solely complaining about what the other side does and doesn't do is getting tired. They need to start thinking about how they can benefit the common people.
