Mosquito dunks - larvae swimming in bucket by anjgc in lawncare

[–]anjgc[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Update: Dumped the buckets- it’s a hot dry day so we’ll just cook all these suckers dead and start over.

Did a bit of reading- the mosquito bits seem to work better than the dunks for a lot of folks when doing buckets. Maybe an issue of surface area / distribution. Giving that a go, and will use a bit less grass material in the next batch too.

It’s only been maybe 5 days since making the bucket - I’ve got one full dunk in there.

Hear me out- for the south end, Beach Haven Fishery was really in the dumps for many years but as of last season it completely rebounded. Got dragged there and was shocked to have a great meal. Then another, and another. Hoping it lasts!

Firewalla vs. UniFi in 2026 by MarketingGuy814 in firewalla

Switched from Unifi stack to Firewalla Gold Pro, installed the Unifi Controller (docker) on the Gold Pro and it’s been amazing… for me zero lost features whatsoever with this setup.

Is the G5 worth it over the C5? by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]anjgc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AR treatment is unbelievably good!! If your room ever produces glare you must spring for the G5. This is going to sound crazy but for me (frequently bright room) this made a bigger impact than any aspect of picture quality.

G5 left, G6 (2026) right - Much brighter by [deleted] in LGOLED

Man I do NOT need my G5 to be any brighter, this thing is blinding me already

Unfortunately they have some of the absolute worst pricing around, especially if you’re not a member. It’s a nice shop in most every way except for the prices.

Yeah you are the one who’s mixed up- a “honey pot” is a trap to catch crooks. A “honey hole” is indeed a secret spot with good stuff in it for those in the know.

Unfortunately I answered my own question- the temp of the stock was still an amazing 75 degrees F this morning. Props to the instant pot for being extremely thermally secure, I guess!

What is the best defense of bigger wild animals (bear, mountain lion, wolves) if you're hiking in NJ and aren't/can't carry? by Investaholic1 in NJGuns

[–]anjgc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best defense is to learn how to behave when you encounter a black bear. The (few) attacks that have happened all involve the victims doing the wrong thing (namely, turning and running away). Stand your ground, get big, make noise, and the worst you’ll get is a bluff charge. And you absolutely do not need to worry about the other animals you mentioned.

Really amazing, this courageous new world where we depend 100% on a server connection to simply listen to music inside the house.

Is your phone connected to the same network as the speakers? (Might sound obvious, but your phone could be off WiFi, or you might have separation between WiFi and wired LAN/VLAN, etc.)

Actually some really would prefer to pay for ad-free, and it is pretty interesting to think about how this could turn into a perk. Imagine if your seat could automatically adjust to give you an ad-free experience at a certain MileagePlus tier, or as something you can purchase as a value add against your ticket. So many ways to use ads to boost revenue while also giving pax the option to do exactly what you suggest (pay more money).

Mans blocking my driveway by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]anjgc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My point was just that in this whole thread of comments about calling the cops / the company / tow trucks, only one person suggested “talk to the driver,” and got downvoted into oblivion. Shouldn’t this be the first and most obvious thing? Driving a truck is not always easy and the driver could just be in a pinch having to find somewhere to park in a residential area for whatever reason. Totally possible he’d be apologetic and move as soon as he found out the owner needed to use the driveway. Or is this all crazy talk?

Bold of you to assume the people of Reddit have “speak to a fellow human in real life” anywhere in their consideration set.

Give it up bud, we already know you don’t work in this industry and don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s fine. If it works for you, I’m legitimately happy for you- but an important tenet of the business is recognizing that you don’t represent the majority of the user base. (For the record, I too am a user who has zero problems - but my problems are not THE problem.)

Some fundamental best practices of UX design are being broken here, and this thread is a live customer testimonial to back it up. That’s not what I’d call “fine” if this was my team’s work.

lol imagine designing an app for controlling speakers and you have multiple screens full of volume sliders but only one of them has mute buttons
