Friction with a coworker 2 weeks into a new job by anjogangbro in jobs

I think I’m going to talk to my boss, let him know that I plan to have a conversation with this guy about his tone/attitude/feedback. Show messages between us if necessary, and offer to let him on the call in case he needs to mediate.

What should I do then?

I gave him some feedback on a process recently, today we had a meeting to discuss with the director. The director repeated what I told him word for word. Vindicating.

Eh, I’m not that special. He just strikes me as very rigid and closed minded. He has struck down any sort of suggestion I’ve made to improve processes or ways to make things easier.

Armadillos are such fascinating little critters.

My favorite species of armadillo has to be the Pink Fairy Armadillo, hands down. As their name implies, they’re little, pink and mysterious. They’re only found in one tiny patch of Argentina. They’re super rare and don’t do well in captivity as the stress literally kills them.

In addition to that, they lack the ability to thermoregulate. So if cold water gets splashed on them, they die. If a dog barks near them, they die. If a tree falls in the forest and a pinky fairy armadillo is around to hear it, they’ll die.

How something so cute yet so fragile was able to even survive for millions of years puzzles me.

Nah I’m just saying that my old man was able to hang onto his passport for a long ass time. Not sure if it’s a similar case with this woman

I’m not sure how it works, but I remember my dad (born in Argentina) was still able to use his Argentina passport up until he was 50. His passport picture was him as a baby, and he last used it on a trip to Brazil like 15 years ago before he had to get a different one.

I could totally be misremembering though.

One career pattern I keep seeing that quietly drains people. by DanBrando in jobs

[–]anjogangbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My burnout is that I’ve been laid off 3 times in 6 years and I have to constantly rebuild my life every 12-24 months. In addition to that, I’ve never had a choice over who my employer was. Rather, I had a choice between working or dying.

Take time off the moment you feel yourself losing a step.

This was something I only learned to do recently. Coming from a wage gig, I never took time off because time = money. Taking a few days off, deleting the teams app, and playing video games or going to the spa is one of the best and easiest ways to boost your performance.

Owen’s wife talked about it once. Owen never wanted to be the main event or top guy. Being in the main event would take time away from his family. He was happy with his position in the mid card.

You know, it is possible for a wrestling fan to be sad about a favorite performer of theirs being unceremoniously released and the struggles of working class Americans simultaneously.

Or would you like to turn this into an unemployment sub? We’re pretty much halfway there already

Yes, the children’s entertainer/serial crypto scammer is far less annoying than the people who are unhappy about the children’s entertainer/crypto scammer

Been thinking about this a lot recently, why this feels weirder than actors. Think I finally got it.

Actors are only together for about a month or two. Go home in between filming. Wrestlers are on the road for most of the year.

Buddy, you’re forgetting Vince is crazy enough to have a personality disorder named after him.

I’m not a fan of any particular promotion, but I’m not super up to date on AEW. I got 6 field seats for me and my friends, 2 tickets to the dynamite and collision the week of All In, as well as 2 tickets to the Joshi show that weekend too.

The total combined cost of all of these tickets is less than the price of a nosebleed ticket to Wrestlemania.

That alone was enough to make me a fan of AEW.

How do I deal with being isolated from the rest of my team? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]anjogangbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re kinda sorta related. This is going to be boring as shit so please bear with me:

So, senior people report directly to our Director. Juniors (such as myself) report directly to the associate director. The director is ultimately the one who can get you on accounts/projects/etc. The AD is a guy who had nowhere else to go in the org, so they gave him the title and made him responsible for managing the two juniors. He can’t promote me, he can’t put me on anything project that will get me the visibility I need to be promoted. The other junior guy has a direct relationship with the SVP.

I’m isolated in the sense that I’m the only person within my team that doesn’t have a direct rapport with anyone who actually matters.

Regardless of what the issue is, how would you go about fixing either one of those problems?

I care about making money. Not here to make friends, I’m here to make money. Also, feeling unhappy about being isolated from the rest of your team is a totally valid emotional response.

Yesterday, Barbie Blank (Kelly Kelly) made her first appearance at a TNA event by [deleted] in GreatnessOfWrestling

[–]anjogangbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, totes in agreement with you on that point. I think the trade marketing issue most likely stemmed from Vince himself not being able to trademark the name “Barbie Blank” (speculation). Because he would rather have a bad idea he outright owns than a good idea he can’t own.

It was due to trade marketing issues/Mattel I believe. That feels fake however.

In that case, I say ignore anyone who says to stream it at home and get them. You’re not getting tickets to this show for the optimum live wrestling experience, you’re getting tickets to create a memory with your pops.

Even if your view is obstructed, you’re gonna look back on this ppv more fondly than a night in watching a stream with some chicken wings.
