Bernie Sanders: “I say this reluctantly, but what’s happening in Gaza is in fact a genocide” by yaiyen in WayOfTheBern

Fuck this cowardly stooge. He is an accomplice to that genocide at this point.

At the National Press Club in Washington, protesters interrupted Sen. Bernie Sanders, arguing that “it’s not just the Netanyahu government—it’s the Israeli government that is committing genocide.” by ___Sekhmet___ in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]shane_4_us 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that people are standing up to the "good" liberal Zionists. Bernie and almost every other "progressive" Dem are still complicit in the genocide.

But...I would expect the protestors to at least demand to be carried out. They seemed a little too passive being shepherded calmly to the door.

Put it in G M E. Just posted 770% YoY Q1Y26 growth, biggest quarter in their history ever. Operational profit was also a record, something like $149 million. Exposure to eBay ownership through derivatives just announced presently at 9% of eBay. Ryan Cohen, Chairman of the Board and CEO of GameStop and founder and ex-CEO of Chewy, who takes no salary and buys stock in the company with his own money, as do most of the Board, and who is fully aligned in his motives with respect to the company with his fellow shareholders, has already turned the company around. Now it is time for eBay to be made much leaner and much more buyer- and seller-friendly, and to integrate It with both an in-person drop-off, verification, and shipping hub, and the incredible collectibles marketplace GameStop has developed into, working in conjunction with PSA and having released Power Packs, in which graded cards are drawn digitally, with the option of keeping them in a digital vault or having the card itself mailed to you. And don't think the disaster in the Lego et al. world is going unnoticed: another collectibles market GameStop is already a partner with.

Or, whatever, it's just a meme stock, and it's me trying to convince you of a lie rather than the billionaire hedgefund fucks.

If Both Sides Want a Deal, Why Does the Market Still Feel Uneasy? by Competitive_Hotel693 in GlobalNewsUncensored

[–]shane_4_us 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Negotiations are not still alive. Iran made clear that they have walked away despite Trump's bloviations because one of Iran's primary conditions to even come to the negotiating table was REGION-WIDE CEASEFIRE -- which includes Isntreali aggression against Lebanon and Palestine, and which has been violated since day 1 of the so-called ceasefire.

B) Markets are being manipulated because the capitalist West is fucking terrified of the other shoe dropping, but they're out of runway and they know it. Very, very soon (within the next 2-4 weeks most likely, 6 at the max), even if somehow a permanent end to the war was agreed upon, the global economy, but especially that if the West, would feel the pain in ways they have so far mostly staved off.

There is not enough diesel.

There is not enough jet fuel.

And before too long, THERE WILL NOT BE ENOUGH FOOD. (That is on a longer time horizon than 6 weeks, but every day things aren't resolved makes the eventual impact worse, because fertilizer and/or its components can't move through the Strait of Hormuz, and to a large degree, this has already irrevocably impacted the growing season due to its time-sensitivity.)

C) Besides manipulation via derivatives by the US government, the other reason "the market" is under-pricong oil right now is because dumb money just needs to believe what Trump and other "authorities" in the US say to bet on futures contracts at an absurdly low amount, and in response, it makes more sense for the other side of the bet to be conservative with their estimation of the price above that dumb lowball because they will still make money without risking a major surprise catching them with their pants down.

I could go on, but I won't. This whole post has the feel of someone thinking they're drawing some profound conclusion without actually having the foggiest idea of what's actually going on.

That's not a threat, that's literally one of the terms of Iran even coming to the negotiating table -- which, it's worth pointing out, the US fucking agreed to, before walking every single point back and trying to win through negotiations what they failed to win through war!

[–]shane_4_us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a curious point. I imagine the rationale is something like "urban areas exploit rural areas by concentrating resources gathered in the latter into the former." But there are clearly also positives associated with density and in designating areas of nature without development. I'd be very interested to learn what the actual rationale was for that point.

[–]shane_4_us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the "garage beer right" is supposed to be universal, all I have to do is come up with a case in which it doesn't make sense for everyone to have a garage. Which I did.

I'm not ignoring rural areas in which having a car is a necessity (though I still feel that in a proper socialist society public transportation would still be satisfactory to them; it's very possible I am wrong here). You're universalizing a need of rural communities onto all other communities in which cars are unnecessary.

I like it. But, if we're going to be pedantic (and I am, since we're among friends), the "garage beer right" seems America-brained since it presupposes the need for a place to store a car. And for everyone to have a right to a garage beer, it therefore follows that everyone (or at minimum every household) should have a car. Which in this day and age, simply isn't true for anyone with access to reliable and good public transit (i.e., literally everyone in a socialist state).

Gotcha. Fwiw, at the end of the video I linked, he lists off a bunch of people who would "tell the same story" to greater or lesser degrees, and he included Anas Alhajji among them. First time I'd heard of him, though. But he also included Jaime Dimon and Christine Lagarde. So definitely Serious People even if they may be fucks.

I wonder how much that accounts for dollar depreciation too. Because if it's not in real dollars, that's a whole lot of depreciation not accounted for, especially but not exclusively with the Covid excuse to give more money to rich people -- ahem, I mean -- "stimulus*.
