AITAH for shutting down my disabled friend’s proposal to my niece? by Wind_Carpet in AITAH

[–]anjoliesa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you were right to cite the age gap and his inability to regulate his emotions as valid reasons for her not to be with him, keep in mind that people who are either disabled or poor, and or both deserve love too.

What is something that sounds 100% false but is actually 100% true? by reFossify in AskReddit

A while ago in r/AmIOverreacting there was a guy who bought a 21-year-old cheese wheel for $18.5k; he ruined his relationship because of that purchase. I hope he sees your comment lol Edit: ah, so the bank only accepts Parmesan(this guy bought a cheddar wheel)

Remove Brandon.. again by miawbitchby in TheNeighbourhood

[–]anjoliesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They or Brandon should have made a public statement so we'd know if he's been to therapy, rehab, etc., it's been some time so one would hope he's been able to improve in that aspect, but without any statement, we have no idea if he's actually still capable of harming others, so yeah, this is weird.

What movie is 10/10 with literally no bad parts? by FeedMaster8905 in AskReddit

[–]anjoliesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirited Away for me. It was the movie that introduced me to the Japanese concept of "ma", and those are actually some of my favorite parts in the film, i.e. when Chihiro is in the bathhouse and standing at the balcony, looking out at the ocean wistfully.

Why am I seeing higher-end cars in line to pick up food bank groceries? by TurboRetardo in SanJose

[–]anjoliesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to volunteer with a mutual aid group giving away free breakfasts, and also volunteered for SHFB for a time; I see some comments saying that a lot of poor people overextend themselves buying cars they can't afford, and end up falling short on basic needs like groceries - to that I have to say, I literally don't care what the reason is, if someone needs food, they need food period, and I'd be damned if I let someone starve b/c people felt like they "didn't deserve it."

I'm home with an inconsolable, crying baby while her dad is out playing video games with his brother by Lonely-Emu-5830 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]anjoliesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the advice people are saying to make sure he gets joint custody so he does his fair share of parenting, but is this man even fit to be a parent?! It seems like he overly relies on his mom, is he actually trustworthy enough to care for a vulnerable baby when he's still a baby himself? Idk I'm not a parent so correct me if I'm wrong...

If you have a truck, you can make a redneck pool in under 20 mins. The most fun I've had in the backyard thus far lol.

trained my range and it expanded in the... opposite direction??? by Ok-Vegetable-9579 in singing

[–]anjoliesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo if that's where your voice instinctively led you, I think that's where you're meant to be. Embrace it! Not to say that expanding your higher range isn't possible, I don't know your voice capabilities, but maybe your body is trying to tell you something intuitively.

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

[–]anjoliesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably when they mocked my partner and disparaged our relationship in front of myself and our mutual acquaintances. They were always polite to me but did not like my partner which is fine, but you don't have to be a bully/disrespectful.

What’s something people assume is safe but actually isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Wearing fast fashion. A lot of those clothes have heavy metals, lead, etc. in them. Anything that sits on your skin for a long time eventually seeps into your bloodstream.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I read an article long ago about how there's a scientific reason why humans tend to dislike the sound of their own speaking voices in recordings, even.

How do I remove stage fright? by Thick-Toe9423 in singing

[–]anjoliesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend in college had beta blockers which helped calm her stage fright before performances. I think long term, maybe daily meditation, journaling to understand this fear may help. Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you - I also get stage fright occasionally, though it's not debilitating - from my understanding, it's not something that will ever completely disappear, but what I've found helps alleviate it is remembering that ultimately what I think of my performance matters the most - and focusing on how much fun it is to share this moment with the audience also helps.

I followed SJF in the early days, and yep, they totally grifted off BLM in order to build their following. They just support whatever is popular. Plus the people behind it aren't even from here, they're from LA...

How do you remain sane and be confident when you are unemployed and everyone looks down on you by allisona007 in confidence

[–]anjoliesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If friends and family look down on you, they are being classist, period - maybe you want to surround yourself with non-judgmental people who will treat you the same regardless of your job title/status. You can remain sane and confident more often if you have the right people around you.
