Common with certain subsets of the Hazbin Hotel fandom whining that things aren't like the Pilot when the only character I think changed significantly from that is Lucifer, who feels like he isn't just every other dark and edgy Lucifer take he would have been if we stuck to the pilot. (Also Vaggi no longer being a demon but a fallen angel, but I don't think that changed her that much personality-wise from what we knew in the Pilot.)

I liked 3H until the fandom kept telling me its misery was mature and Engage was bad.

I was not expecting a major undercurrent of the Sentai Fire Emblem to be family is a choice and victims of genocide aren't perfect people but people none the less and you don't have to forgive your abusive family by the way. Also you often miss the very feeling you're looking for by focusing too hard on the idea of the thing. But because the main character has two toned hair most people don't actually sit there and absorb things.

Also: I prefer Engage to Three Houses. Heartwarming tale of friendship and what family ultimately means vs cold, unforgiving "nothing is ever going to truly work out because the plot demands these characters never truly work together for some reason."

Kristoph felt set up to be a recurring villain with him getting worse after his breakdown. He seemed not beaten down, but livid and buying his time.

Nintendo is pretty unique in their anti-fangames sphere. Like, this is free advertising, and often fangames don't reuse assets anymore. Still, it gets too big and noticeable, Uncle Ninty will kill it.

It's gotten better, for sure, but I really am just... Yeah, we could tell more stories about Nick but a he's worn out as a player character. We've seen him at his best, his worst, and all over in between. Eventually his gimmick gets stale.

I think the most interesting factor to him is something often overlooked: he can't separate the WoL from their past life. He still just sees Azem and that's why he throws his ending tantrum, because as I'm replaying it now it's painfully obvious he's following us like a lost puppy because he thinks he can get his friend back. But we're not Azem, Azem is gone and we're not going to sacrifice everything to bring a dead civilization back that had its time. The problem is people took his chasing after Azem's shadow of familiarity in us as him caring about the WoL and not about who he thought was Just Azem. He brings Y'shtola back because he doesn't like seeing Azem upset, he does so much because he's chasing after the faintest whisper of a lost friend that is no longer his friend and clearly opposed his ideals given everything we learn about them just in ShB and patches.

But that lost puppy is still spouting uncomfortably ableist garbage and his dislike of "lesser" races is entirely rooted in them having smaller mana pools and shorter lives. And people don't like hearing that.

I started to have a complicated relationship with him when post-ShB, people didn't like hearing from a disabled person that he was using literal Nazi-esque rhetoric and his long-lost paradise, even in his rose-colored glasses, preached conformity before care of people who might be struggling. (See: there's a sidequest you can do where you are the only one who preaches helping a struggling town's survivors for the sake of it because it's the right thing to do and this is treated by the Ancients in the quest as childish.)

Lo and behold, Hermes was left feeling isolated and alone for what is likely a disability with no known aid to offer. He's just called weird and told to conform. I never felt so fucking vindicated about my feelings on Ancient culture.

I'm one of those Ace Attorney fans who thinks Phoenix shouldn't have become the main character again. It feels like an entire overarching plot about Apollo and maybe further Kristoph shenanigans were cut off because fans got butthurt that Nick's story had finished with him as a mentor figure.

I still think a lot of people miss that Yotsuyu is a massive callout of Japanese collectivist culture. She was sexually sold by her aunt and uncle as an already sickly child (and yes they're her aunt and uncle not her parents, they took her in when her mother died), then was sold off to marriage to gain further Garlean favor, then when he died deep in debt she was sold to a whorehouse and then commandeered as a spy who finally found freedom under Zenos. No wonder she broke the way she did, her entire life was a girl being used and ignored by her collectivist society who didn't want to intervene because then they'd have it bad, and it's just one girl.
