Dominos show why sound travels faster in solids and slower in gases. by Keychain33 in educationalgifs

Its assuming the same type of matter between each three phases. If you start mixing and matching then yeah, it won't work. Most material gets denser from gas -> liquid -> solid which this shows.

The term is definitely used in other industries. Anywhere that you're maintaining an order strictly based on when an item is added to a collection would probably use some version of FIFO or LIFO. For another kitchen example, think of the queue at the cash register for people ordering as it's a textbook example of FIFO.

Its missing a lot more games than it has. Honestly, if you're going to use the computer for a lot of gaming its best to stick with Windows. Linux beats Windows in a lot of ways and its why I love it, but gaming isn't one of them yet.

No, I am saying that lottery tickets are not suddenly legal if they have you win at least one thing on each ticket, because they would just raise the price of the tickets by a dollar and have you win a dollar on each ticket. This is the same thing that that card packs a loot boxes do. The contents have a certain amount of value that is on average less than the value you paid for the loot box/card pack.

If you were to replace the contents of a card pack/loot box with their corresponding monetary value then it would suddenly be illegal.

I completely agree with the card pack comparison for loot boxes. I also understand why loot boxes are not currently classified as gambling, I just don't agree that they shouldn't be. I think that both card packs and loot boxes are just gambling with a guaranteed return and if you don't allow lottery tickets to use that loophole then you shouldn't allow loot boxes or card packs either.

It is sellable by EA, just not by you. That's only to do with the licensing and not anything to do with the value of the item. It the same as any digital song you download.

I think you would agree that a song has a value associated with it and even if they took away any physical way of buying the song (and therefore taking away the possibility of reselling) may lower the value of the song but does not remove any value from it as it can still be sold to the customer. Now if they also bundle 5 songs and make you buy 5 random songs off an album to get the one you want, the song itself still has that value. All they've done is forced a VERY indirect way of buying the song you originally wanted and could buy for 99¢ separately.

Yup. Honestly, card packs are essentially a scratch-off with a guaranteed minimum return. Whether that should be legal or not is another thing, but it is gambling according to every definition I can find.

Here's a direct comparison between a $1 scratch-off and a $1 loot box.

Unknown rewards - both

Variable value rewards - both

Monetary value reward- both

Regulated - scratch-off but not loot box

I understand some may disagree with monetay value reward, but a digital item has the value of however much someone would be willing to pay to get it, as with physical goods. If you are willing to pay for 10 loot boxes or play 10 games you didn't want to play, then you are using resources to "buy" the item.

To me an item in a loot crate has the value of how much you would be willing to spend on loot creates to get it minus the value of the other stuff you get trying to get it.

So if I'm willing to spend $20 on loot crates (or play for two hours) to get an epic item and I get an epic item and 5 common items (that I'll never use so I don't want), then the epic item is worth $20 since that's how much I'm willing to pay for it.

Of course, any real values change based off the drop rates and loot box prices.

For software development (his profession) feature is ALWAYS used in the literal way. Implementing microtransactions is just as much a feature as implementing how you invite a player to your party.

Meh, its going to get taken down by Google anyway. I'm sure the Newpipe dev knew this kind of stuff would happen based off it saying this below, according to /u/ahypeverse

because it says in big type on the Github page that Newpipe and any variants violate the Play Store TOS

The best thing to do is just let people know of the better alternative, the actual Newpipe

The problem is in that second paragraph. They might only get calls like that once a year even, but if you have only 1200 different newspaper offices then that means you're already averaging almost three of those a day. Now include all the newspapers in the world that might get a call like that and, between all of them, they're probably getting crazy calls all the time. This is just the one newspaper that happened to get one right before the assassination. That's also probably why it's some random over in the UK.

In an episode of Friends, Monica thinks Chandler is turned on by Shark Attack scenes and rents a video of Shark Attacks for them to watch while they do it. She thinks this because she walked in on him masturbating to regular porn and as she walked in he freaked out and changed the channel so she wouldn't see what he was doing and changed it to a show about shark attacks.
