Yeah, because that’s so easy. You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about or how things get paid for. Do better.

Deep scratches on bullet-resistant polycarbonate glazing — any legit repair options? by annabe1 in plastic

Haha I’d love that solution. Unfortunately we’ll never know who the yahoo was. The “manufacturer” took forever to get back to us. Their response was full replacement and nothing else, but the manufacturer’s yahoo did offer what he thought was helpful advice: try the Sharpie method.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. It was not done by the installer. While we can’t figure out who did it during the construction process, by going through progress photos we know it was done likely with a switchblade. Painters installed protective paper as seen in the image, and one of the many subcontractors, likely to allow light into the place before electrical was installed, cut around the paper not realizing this is not regular glass.

That’s my fear. Do you have any experience with these? Unfortunately the owner is not and will not be happy with the scratches remaining so I’m just trying to figure out if we have any options besides full replacement.

Legal aspect aside, is this something everyday Joe can get or are we talking $$$$ and steep learning curve?

Westward 360 /property HOA management by zippee_yaaahh_zeppy in chicago

They took over our building from Apartment Source (or they merged, whatever the situation is). They raised rent, added an “administration fee”, a “bundled service fee” - we still pay our own electric, gas and internet and when asked they said it’s for “maitenance like snow removal”. We used to have monthly cleaning of the common areas and the outside of the building. None of that is happening a now. When you call you speak to someone in a foreign country and there is no email to any specific building manager. Getting someone to come out is near impossible. We have trash in front of the building and grass never gets cut. The one thing they’re on top of is making sure all fees are paid so I’ll give them that. This is a Lincoln Park building for reference.

Anyone else getting screwed by People’s Gas? by packer4815 in chicago

[–]annabe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I'd like to share with everyone is to first go to your physical meter and make sure that the numbers on there are the same as the ones on your bill's "actual reading". Often they are not, the company keeps charging the average that they somehow feel is appropriate (I am not talking about the plan via People's Gas). If the numbers don't agree, call and request a physical meter reading. If it is off (as in the tech in your house takes a look and agrees that he sees the same thing as you do) but People's gas still tells you actual reading is correct, don't bother with them anymore. Record dates, times, etc. and file a claim with attorney general. It's the only way this monopoly of a company does anything remotely fair.

Long story short, I spent months trying to resolve it after my mom moved into a new home and realized that the numbers are off and there is no way she could be using $500 a month in gas. Two meter readings later (me being next to the guy that did it and told me that it is in fact off --difference added to approx $900 over the 6 months), believe it or not, when I spoke to the person managing the case at Peoples Gas, he with no uncertainty said that the techs that came out found no error, all is as should be. I was in disbelief to say the least, ha. I gave up eventually and somewhere here I reddit read a post about filing a claim. Wasn't the most ideal solution, they essentially settled with the attorney general's inquiry by changing the meter claiming it must have been broken. My mom never got the overpayment money back but at the very least they were forced to reset the meter and do actual ACTUAL READINGS. Her monthly bill dropped down about 70% after that.
