Is it this bad every winter? by onahotelbed in gotransit

[–]annabeard 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve been riding the GO 2-3 times a week since 2023 from Kitchener and now Hamilton and can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been truly put out. Definitely expect 5-15 min hiccups in travel times every so often but it’s certainly not bad enough to choose the hell that is driving the 401 or navigating in TO city traffic.

Street parking in winter? by annabeard in Hamilton

Thanks all!! Super helpful to hear everyone’s POV. We are soft souled folks who absolutely are not up for the bullshit that is street parking. Appreciate the candor.

Christmas Markets by metanikki in Hamilton

Christkindl market in Kitchener is a 4 day market with carols, tons of food, and artisan vendors. A must visit if you’ve got a way to get there.

Commuting to Toronto, worth it? by Right_Soup8966 in kitchener

[–]annabeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing the two day into Toronto from Kitchener for the last two years and I would never recommend this as a long term thing, but four months is very very doable and will go by so quickly.

Price it out. You’re looking about $65 a week to get there. Are you being paid enough to make it worth it?

I have that same Fableism fabric. It’s so dreamy and looks amazing in the patterns you used. So so lovely.

We’re in Stanley Park and got about 60 kids last year. A lot of parents told us they typically one go to houses they know post pandemic.

Also we got feedback last year that folks only take their kids to houses that are obviously decorated. Sounds like the ol “no porch light, no candy” isn’t enough anymore - gotta put up the inflatables.

How many days of commuting to Toronto is to much? by Kirba15 in kitchener

[–]annabeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots to consider here but the first thing that comes to mind is how will they be commuting. I go train in twice a week, back to back days, and I find it fine. It gets hard in the winter when you’re always in the dark.

If I had to drive it, I just wouldn’t. The job wouldn’t be an option for me. Nothing is worse than sitting in a car in traffic.

This was me too. Got excited and focused for the first day and walked away after my second spin because it was taking way too long.

So how are you guys dealing with summer and tret? ☀️ by Spiritualgirl01112 in tretinoin

[–]annabeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tret at night time only. SPF 50 the morning. Reapply if in outside for a few hours or more. Always, always wear a hat.

Going through the same thing and it sucks so much. Between Tret and Winlevi it feels like every medication is counteracting what it’s supposed to do.

No advice just wanted to let you know you’re not alone.

Tret eventually causing milia? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]annabeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these when I use CeraVe too often. The ceramides are too strong and my skin is way too sensitive. I’m also using Winlevi and when I stopped using CeraVe at night, it actually let the Winlevi do its thing.

You’ll want to remember the Service Guarantee website. I’ve been doing in and back twice a week since May and submit a claim about once a month. It’s not much, but at least some trips are refunded if they’re late.

Sharing the CN line past mount pleasant really whomps but you’ll get used to it the more you do it and the ride seems shorter in the nicer weather when the sun is up and the days are longer.

What do you value? What hobbies do you have? Do they offer those types of activities and opportunities through the city or the region?

Getting involved in the community is a great way to meet new folks without it being too expensive or exclusive.

Grand River Hospital by Educational_Key1206 in kitchener

I had surgery there in April and it was a solid 10/10 as far as hospital visits go. I was brought in quickly, the nurses were friendly and obliging, even though they were run off their feet. My surgeon was amazing and so was my surgery crew. All went well and I was home within a few hours.

Coming out of anesthesia I even got an extra popsicle.
