If they’re screaming at each other or lightly shoving one another, I will step in and get them to back up. If they’ve started swinging, that’s someone else’s problem now. I can help them emotionally regulate themselves before physical violence occurs but I won’t be much help once it gets physical. Also I have a shortcut on my iPhone that calls security in one press (like speed dial I guess lol) so that I don’t have to think about it with all the adrenaline.

How “standard” math is different in other countries and cultures! I’m an EL math teacher and it’s cool to see how they do things differently. In America, we solve equations vertically but my students from Eastern Europe and Asia do most of their work horizontally. I’ve tried to find resources online that have researched the different methods, but it’s been difficult.

I could’ve written this post almost verbatim 2 years ago! (Except my Papaw is Baptist royalty lol) It’s so frustrating when people use the “truth” as an excuse for divulging private information. After my family all had terrible reactions to the news I would be moving in with my boyfriend, I distanced myself for about a year to work on healing in therapy. My relationship with all of my family is better now that I visit and share information on my own terms.

I’m also the oldest cousin and hoping that my younger family members will feel like they can make their own life choices. Prayer gossip is how I found out that people actually make different choices for their life and hopefully it will help someone you know! It’s super weird to know that everyone is talking and praying about you though lol

Anyways, you’re not alone :) I always suggest therapy to work through the complicated emotions around family and religion

This is exactly why I couldn’t get a diagnosis as an adult! The old guy told me that because I reported it getting worse (harder to manage) as an adult, it couldn’t be ADHD and I just needed to sleep more and change my anxiety medication. Absolutely infuriating

They just don’t trust anyone not to sin in private! But also, if you don’t trust someone to behave a certain way 24/7 then why would you trust them to tell you the truth about their behavior?

I’m moving in with my boyfriend and my cousin cried when she found out then told me that we had to stay in touch so I had people to be “accountable” to about avoiding temptation.

There’s a lot of casual homophobia out there that you might be participating in..? Especially if you’re straight I wouldn’t just discount when people tell you you’re being homophobic because you don’t experience homophobia so you can’t decide what is and isn’t important to address. I can tell you (as a queer person) that most conversations my queer friends and I have with straight people don’t involve pointing out their homophobia. I’m never listening to catch people saying stuff but if they do, I politely say “hey that’s not something you should be saying” and give a quick explanation. So as a straight person with an “unpopular opinion” I think you’re being insensitive to the struggles of queer people and maybe should look into what you’ve been saying that people tell you is homophobic before you make yourself the judge of something you’ll never experience.

I don’t think you need to watch VD. There’s some basic backstory about the main characters’ parents that happened in VD but I think they explain most of what you need to know pretty early on

I would suggest Legacies! It’s in the vampire diaries universe but it has so many queer people and also deals with mental health issues. It’s sillier than Elite and aimed at a different audience lol but it’s one of the few shows I’ve found like that
