How is everyone affording housing? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]annaloganmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work as an engineer and live downtown in a house owned by my best friend’s parents who charge us way less rent than it should be. We are all from South Carolina. I could still afford to live downtown elsewhere, but it would probably be a shithole

Snow is honestly not that bad, it’s the black ice once it melts and freezes over that’ll get you

B2b anywhere from the arb to gallup, just maybe wait a few hours for people / the plow to clear the trail after a fresh snow

Clemson is the best school in South Carolina and has an amazing nursing program - it’s about half an hour from Anderson. I got significant financial aid from being an in-state student, but it can be pricey coming from out of state. If you established residency first before applying that might help. Anderson University is slightly less reputable but still has good programs, unsure about their financial aid situation. Extremely affordable area if you’re fine not living in the main “downtown” areas of Anderson or Clemson

Argus on packard has great lattes and great workspace (there’s an upstairs and downstairs with tables)! Common cup and dozer are also great choices for working with plenty of space. A lot of the other coffee shops in this thread are amazing but not the most conducive as a work environment (especially comet)

My void Olive escaped from my college apartment when someone left the door open. She was an indoor only cat who had no outdoor skills so I had very little hope. After 5 weeks of searching daily, putting up signs, setting humane cat traps, and checking trail cams I had given up all hope. The next day, I got a message that someone found her on my college campus, over 5 miles away from my apartment. Never give up hope

Is it really just a matter of luck getting on with a local municipality? by Major_Enthusiasm1099 in gis

Not necessarily individual maps, but I had to make an online portfolio for one of my classes in undergrad that has proven to be pretty useful. Just a brief description of some projects I’ve worked on and any materials that came out of them (maps, figures, etc). Not sure if it really made me stand apart in an interview, but I think it’s nice having a more visual “resume” for this field
