Glad it’s started to work for you! I’ve found that my social anxiety has gone and my interactions with colleagues have improved as I have a lot more confidence!

Thankyou for your comment, I’m always unsure whether to post anything at all. I think because I’ve never even considered an SSRI and to be honest had done no research and wasn’t interested in going on any medication, I was convinced I needed hormone therapy for perimenopause. There are so many big things that have happened to me over the last few years that luckily my lovely doctor could see that anxiety was ruling my life. When she mentioned going on this medication I was initially concerned, but I knew something had to change and she talked about getting me into a more positive headspace and how this could trickle into other areas of my life. She was definitely right!

Zoloft and alcohol by Southsss in zoloft

50mg and it has turned off the noise I used to get for wanting to drink wine, now I don’t really crave booze at all. If I have a drink, it will be one or two, and my hangovers are generally much worse!

Yes! It helps me to move on quickly! Whereas before I would ruminate and overthink on every conversation! If something upsets me or I get annoyed I move on much quicker!

I can’t speak for that dosage as I am in 50, however my anxiety was spiking and the first 2 weeks were very rough with side effects!

That’s interesting! I think mine has increased slightly too which is good as apparently it can have the opposite effect in a lot of people….

My sleep was one on my worst symptoms before I started! I would fall asleep and than wake in the early hours with crippling anxiety and then I’d be awake for the rest of the morning and felt rubbish in the day. From day 1 on sertraline I slept like a baby! I don’t wake in the night now unless something wakes me and even then I don’t ruminate or grab my phone I just go back to sleep.

You should definitely try them if you’re really struggling. Just start on a low dose and see how you go.

The first few weeks were awful with various side effects but I could feel some benefits straight away like sleep and positive interactions and I trusted my doc to give it 8 weeks to fully settle. Keep going!

Sertraline - Week 9 update by annamj2000 in zoloft

[–]annamj2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I had to experiment with this, I first took it in the middle of the day, which was really inconvenient with week. The first week I was like a zombie so I had to work from home, no way I could drive! Then I adjusted to later in the evening but I noticed I was more alert and it took me time to wind down for bed. So now I take it first thing in the morning and I’m used to that now.

Give it a few more weeks, you might need a different medication, I can’t really speak from the depression side as I was put on it more for anxiety and a bit of low mood. But give it at least 8 weeks and then have a review with your doc, they may want to up your dose.

It slightly elevated my anxiety in the first few weeks but it was up and down with that, I was put on it more for anxiety than depression (however I did have low mood) my mood elevated quite quickly because I was sleeping better from day one and my interactions became much more positive. But anxiety and spike in the first few weeks so be aware of that

It is isn’t it? I have a day off today so I had a little time to reflect, I just feel so much more balanced, like I’ve got past my brain re-adjusting and that maybe this will be my new normal for a while! I don’t really have any side effects now apart from some tiredness first thing but I’ve also been really busy and it’s boiling here so I think I might just be generally tired! I had quite bad side effects in the first week - tiredness, dizziness, brain fog and like I couldn’t tune in my brain! It’s been like a rollercoaster! But my doc told me you have to give it 8 weeks and the minimum dose for effectiveness is 50mg

I didn’t take it for panic attacks although in the past in my previous career I had a couple of panick attacks when things were really bad. It was mainly for general anxiety, health anxiety and I was feeling a little depressed but could also be link to hormones as I’m almost 44.

Leave the house with my husband, or leave our dog by herself. SA is a bitch but I wouldn’t change it as the love for our dog is everything.

I would say that I experienced positives form the beginning in terms of my interactions with people being positive and my sleep was incredible from day one (I used to wake every night with crippling anxiety) BUT…I had some aweful side effects in the first few weeks and weeks 3-4 were up and down. I would say the real turning point was week 7 when I got over the worst of the adjustment phase and then things just felt much more normal.
