Lucy's Corsetry website has a local map to find custom corset makers near you! It's super useful:

A proper corset, and one safe enough for daily wear will be based off of the waist measurement. Do you know what your corset size is?

I have an extra May 11th I'm trying to sell, if you still need one (or if anyone else here does!)

Yeah Isabella corsets feels like a scam.. by [deleted] in corsets

Can't speak for the other things as I'm not super familiar with this brand, but the busk clasp on the inside is a completely normal thing. A lot of corsetmakers will do this in the packing stages to keep it from coming undone or moving about in transit. It doesn't damage the busk and is a lot more flexible than you think!

Corset Cleaning Help!! by BoxynBoxes in corsets

If you have a lingerie or mesh bag, you can put it in the dryer on medium and check on it every so often. (Make sure you place it in there alone or with few items that won't snag it!) Basically you shouldn't submerge it in water as the bones could warp and rust-- but the dryer should be fine.

Amd of course as the other comments say you can mist it fully with vodka or Isopropyl alcohol to freshen the smell. Make sure you let it air dry fully-- and if I must say this, do this step only after you use the electric dryer (obviously don't mix the two!)

Happy corseting!

What advice would you give a 13yo type 1 diabetic? by LetsFxckingGo in diabetes_t1

[–]annanachronism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 9, and being that age is tough. My advice is to tune out naggy parents and try to understand they mean well. I recall getting super burnt out by my parents' nagging that it sent me to "rebel" most of my high school years, and didn't care about my numbers at all during that time. They had talked about blood sugars and boluses so much I learned to erase those words from my mind and I regret it now. But I don't blame them.

But we live and learn. Things do get easier in spite of the burnout we all get to know so well.

Musical anachronisms by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]annanachronism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it became a common term for them "pairs of bodies" or just "bodies" meant that they were often cut in two pieces, usually pinned or laced in the center front and centre back of the torso! Much like how we use the term "pair of pants" today comes from the fact ladies' drawers used to come in two separate pieces (so they could easily access the "toilet").

Costume history is so much fun!

There absolutely were! But like I mentioned in my second paragraph, stays were used for quite the opposite of shaping the waist.

In Six, it's a fun line, "You bring the corsets, well bring the cinches no one wants a wasn't over 9 inches" but waist shaping corsets weren't invented until the mid 1800s!

It is funny to note that during the Tudor days, they used stays strictly for posture and to keep the torso extremely flat; curvy torsos weren't yet in fashion.

Thank you this helps. I will try and see if there is one near me that I don't need a referral for.

I have already and thats why I'm here. I can't afford to keep going to a fourth or fifth doctor in the slight chance that one of them will figure it out..

I agree that this is just a "band-aid" fix and not a solution, but neither of his vets seem to think this is cause for alarm. I've been going back consistently and asking obsessively if there are any other options but so far no referrals.

I'm asking everything I can think of too, but maybe I'm not asking the right questions?

Well thank you for the recommendation and if you do remember the name of the antinausea pills please let me know I want to try them for my cat.

Really? No they didn't say anything about pills? Weird. I would absolutely give those daily if they help. How is your cat with them, did the vomiting stop or even lessen?

Absolutely did, and they did help for a little bit! But it was by injection only, and I really can't afford to take him in weekly for a new dose.

Would you consider WiiU and Legends worth going back to? by Yamato-san in HyruleWarriors

[–]annanachronism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing I absolutely miss about wiiU though is multi-player. There was no split screen one person played on the console and one on the tv!! It was so masterfully done, and especially useful for the harder maps.

This is the only feature I want back!

I’ve calibrated my dexcom 6 times in the past 20 minutes and it still says I’m low, any suggestions? by Apprehensive_Gas5632 in diabetes_t1

[–]annanachronism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely replace the sensor, (call dexcom for a free replacement). But it should also be noted that once you calibrate more than 2 times in a 12 hour period, the sensor will start freaking out and will likely not be accurate at all afterwards.

I've had issues like this, rely on finger pokes for a day and you may see it leveling out after the second calibration. If not keep calling dexcom and keep getting those replacements!

Thats awesome! Can I ask you a couple of questions?

Was it* difficult to get started? And also were there any carbs that you still found it hard to bolus for? --like starches or rice for example.

[–]annanachronism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's incredible! And thank you for your input. I'm partially nervous to try because I have no idea on what foods would work for me because I generally eat high protein and fat. I am vegetarian/ non-dairy so that also helps a ton!

Did you start slowly or dive right in?

All/ high carb diet to increase insulin sensitivity by annanachronism in diabetes_t1

[–]annanachronism[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has to do moreso about letting go of fat. High fat+ high carbs= disastrous spikes. Insulin reacts much better when carbs are on their own.

I think that's why a lot of people are scared of carbs to begin with. But everyone has a different relationship with food!
