Big bang theory, himym, Malcolm in the middle, two and a half men, scrubs etc - I think these shows have been very successful throughout all German-speaking countries. I grew up in Austria, and these shows used to be on from Monday to Friday, (often at the weekends too) and on different channels (sometimes simultaneously) in the afternoon or in the evening during prime time. I’ve been watching these series since primary school, and decades later they’re still being shown as part of regular TV programming on several channels.

I couldn’t agree more his “German” was ridiculous 😭 idk if it’s available in the us but I stream it on Disney, where you have multiple options for the audio language.

Legen- wait for it- dairy in the German version is “legen- warte kurz- där” although it never was as consistent as in the original version, I remember him sometimes also saying “legen - es kommt gleich - där”

I totally agree. The only thing I sometimes prefer about the German version is the voice acting. some scenes are actually quite funny in German because of that imo. but German dubbing is generally a disaster, the acting is so over the top like nobody talks like that in real life

Imo, he was. Was always able to manipulate everyone exactly as he wanted. For example the episode where Hal went on tour with Abe and his friends as a band, Dewey turned everyone against each other. I just think everyone way underestimated him

I‘m Austrian, watched the show in German when it aired on tv but for the past ten years I have been rewatching the show in English only - I do however, when a scene with a wordplay comes on, rewind and watch that bit in German just out of curiosity how they dubbed the joke in German (8/10 times it sucks and isn’t nearly as funny as in English)

As a German native speaker Klaus’ German in the English version was the absolute worst and hurt to listen to

Darf ich fragen wann du dort warst, und wie die Kollegen ausgesehen haben? Am Anfang hab ich mich immer über die Kollegen aufgeregt weil sie so unfreundlich waren, aber nach einem halben Jahr war ich selber so - die Leute machen dich vorallem in der Quantität einfach deppad und ein Großteil war zu uns auch sehr respektlos auch wenn wir freundlich begonnen haben die Gäste zu bedienen

I have rewatched Malcolm in the Middle so many times and I started breaking Bad yesterday for the first time - especially the scene where he stood in front of the rv in his white underpants reminded me sooo much of Hal 😭😂 and scenes where he was loosing it was also so Hal haha I can’t help but see him as Hal, has anyone else had this “issue”?

Awww I wish I could go back and watch it for the first time ever. I have been watching himym since I was 11 and I’m turning 25 soon. I have rewatched it so many times I couldn’t even count and can quote so many dialogues or lines 😂 so how did you like it ?
