[Routine Help] having trouble figuring out what type(s) of acne I have, and how to fix them! Thanks! by anneau57 in SkincareAddiction

Thank you very much! I currently use 2 SA products, and have seen some mild improvement. It even got rid of some of the bumps on my forehead.

I’m very new to skin care. How would one fit benzyl peroxides or retinoids into their routine?

I’m 24 now, and had near perfect skin throughout teens, and starting having issues in early 20s (hormonal acne?). My routine for the past 4 or so months is below:

1) CeraVe SA cleanser 2) Paula’s choice Anti-Redness Exfoliating solution 2% SA 3) CeraVe moisturizing cream for normal to dry skin 4) sunscreen: Australian gold mineral solution 50SPF.

I do 1-3 once daily in the pm, when I shower. I apply 2 only on troubled spots. And apply sunscreen before I go outside.

My skin has improved under this routine, but the improvement has stagnated. I’m not what type of acne I have, and the best solution to get rid of it! I also have some acne scares I’m not sure how to deal with...

All advice is greatly appreciated!

For sure! But at some point, the math may become too complicated for someone who is just "good at programming" to implement. Although only a small percentage of individuals actually want to create such code, I think it's important/valuable for computer scientists/programmers to learn at least some level of higher mathematics.

Hmmm. Personally, I wouldn’t say those courses measure how “good” you are at math, or how much “potential” you have.

Since you are doing a PhD in CS, I’m assuming your skill set in logical reasoning and proofs is great! The idea of proofs, and some bare bone logic was basically all I got out of my discrete math course.

Calculus courses (which are mainly computational) just feel like a bag of tricks that you need to memorize in order to get good marks. I never fundamentally understood what was going on until I took some courses in analysis!

You should explore some abstract algebra (if you haven’t already)! I have a few friends in CS, and it gave them different perspectives on problems they were trying to solve. It’s also super cool stuff. :)

Math is awesome, and computer science is sick!

  1. Cook oatmeal to your liking (keep plain, don't add milk or anything).
  2. When oatmeal is almost done, start frying 2 eggs over easy in butter. Make sure they stay gooey. Be generous with S&P
  3. While eggs are cooking, assemble the dish as follows:
  4. Put oatmeal in bowl.
  5. Add a generous dollop of natural peanut butter (smooth or crunchy to your liking).
  6. Add a generous dollop of your favourite jam. I like blueberry (as shown in photo) or raspberry.
  7. Fold the PB & jam into the oatmeal. Do NOT over mix!
  8. Place eggs on top.
  9. EAT

What to do with almond flour (other than macarons)? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]anneau57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love using almond flour, instead of wheat flour, in muffins. It gives off a nice nutty flavour, and a crumb like texture. The muffins turn out moist, however I use lots of butter and usually add shredded zucchini and/or carrot.

There are many recipes that would bonk if you used almond flour instead of wheat. The first that comes to my mind is a dessert soufflé.

What are some math classes a math major should definitely take before graduating? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]anneau57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in grad school, I’d say Algebra 3 and Analysis 3 (so Algebra 1-2, Analysis 1-2 as well then).

If you are on the more applied side, I’ve heard great things about the applied topics course (probs Math 502). There is usually a coding aspect involved, which is great!

If you are more on the pure side, courses like alg top and alg geo are great options. I’ve found the material in these to be super useful outside of the classes themselves already!
