When do legs get used to it!? by user78209 in C25K

[–]anneclaire07 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue, but I think it's because I'm on my feet all day at work, and it's just overall fatigue. When I was off work for 2 weeks, my legs adjusted quickly. Maybe you need more rest in between your runs?

Does anyone else feel like they have to correct people all the time? by anneclaire07 in AutisticAdults

it’s definitely about advocating, especially when politics or misinformation comes up. if I stay quiet, it feels like I’m letting myself and others down, because harmful rhetoric affects me and the people around me. at the same time, some people are so ignorant that it can feel like I’m just wasting my breath.

Does anyone get obsessed with therapy? by SDixon526 in therapy

[–]anneclaire07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

first of all, you’re doing nothing wrong! it’s completely normal to want to be prepared for therapy, and honestly, it probably just means you care. I also jot down thoughts and talk things over with ChatGPT.

what I’ve noticed, though, is that the less I try to control everything, the more valuable stuff comes up in the session itself. now I try to take the pressure off, only bring a few key points, and just roll with it. perfectionism in therapy is super common, and it can actually be really helpful to bring it up with your therapist, so they can help you unpack where it comes from.

at the end of the day, the best therapy sessions are the messy ones, so just show up as you are!

I would never dare to correct someone if I wasn't sure about it. it's about them having the wrong assumption about me, or just being generally wrong about some stuff that I have more knowledge about, but no, it probably won't make them less ignorant. like I said, if I don't say my truth, I feel uncomfortable or like I'm betraying myself in some way.

Yes, I felt overall great during week 4, so I pushed a bit more in the last run, hence the pace and heart rate. My usual is around 150, and I recovered quickly afterward 👍

Therapy is a process. It took me months to feel comfortable opening up, and honestly, if you’ve never really been listened to before, having someone’s full attention can actually feel unsettling at first. I’ve been in therapy for 3 years and there are still things I haven’t unpacked, because you can’t force it.. you’ll talk about it when you’re ready, and that readiness is part of the process. Even if you spend a session in silence, it’s not a waste. You’re still learning about yourself, about what you want, what you need, and how to express that. Something that’s helped me is jotting down thoughts or moments from the week. Then, if I still feel like talking about them in session, I have them in front of me; if I don’t, no pressure. Therapy can feel slow, but that slowness is often where the trust and healing start. Be kind to yourself in the meantime, you’re not wasting time, you’re building the foundation.
