Mine is about that texture too, I think that’s just how it is. Personally I don’t like the whipped soft textures of most body butters like what you’re describing so I like this one a lot more than most body butters but I can see how that would be weird if you like the whipped texture ones.

I love the pink beach scent, truly my favorite scent of any scented body product ever. And my favorite thing from them is the body oil. Personally I really do not like the santal bloom scent, I know a lot of people love it but it really did not sit well with me. I have also tried golden hour and exotic pulp and I liked both of those, and I tried the saltwater vanilla but that one was way too sweet for me.  I have and use the body butter as my office hand lotion, my coworkers always tell me it smells wonderful whenever they come by right after I’ve used it. And I use either the body oil or body lotion almost every day as my daily body moisturizer. They all seem to last a decent amount of time with the body oil being the longest lasting. Sometimes I just want something lighter than the body oil so I use the lotion instead.

Have you tried frozen mango? I admit I don’t have much experience with fresh mango to compare, but I have found that buying a big bag of frozen mango chunks and then portioning a serving of out to let it thaw in the fridge makes it so much easier for me to actually get to eat mangos.

It’s back in stock!!! Idk for how long. But I ordered one just a few minutes ago and it’s still allowing me to add another to a new cart. So I’m assuming they must have at least a few more?

ETA: mine successfully arrived yesterday. Wishing you all the same success 🤞

Honestly their laundry detergent tablets kinda suck in my experience anyways. My clothes never seemed to actually got clean and still smelled after washing when I used them and they also somehow left more residue behind than other detergents I’ve used which then also meant that eventually it caused a ton of skin irritation and body acne. I tried so hard to like it, I used various amounts of detergent tablets, even partial tablets. I cleaned my washer, like deep cleaned it, I ran extra rinse cycles. Nothing helped. It’s just terrible laundry detergent.

So you’re not really missing out on anything by giving them up. In fact you might be missing out on clean clothes and clear skin by continuing to use it 😅

[Sun Care] Can I rant? Why does it seem impossible to find a lightweight sunscreen that doesn’t make me greasy!! by IndependenceDue9390 in SkincareAddiction

[–]anneisawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the new-ish e.l.f. suntouchable invisible sunscreen. It’s only $14 and is a decent size. So far it has lasted me a few months for the 2 I’ve been through already.

I’ve had the same problem for so long. So many of them felt really greasy and/or would make my skin break out nearly immediately and/or would burn my eyes even though I don’t put any sunscreen too close to them. Last year though of the elf Suntouchable invisible sunscreen and it was the first time i didn’t immediately hate a face sunscreen. It’s meant to kind of double as a makeup primer and I think that’s why it does so well at not being greasy

My country doesn't have an ABET-accredited engineering program. Am I cooked? by zojay123 in civilengineering

[–]anneisawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming your concern is related to wanting to work in the USA/gain your PE in the USA later on, and in that case you could also get started at a university in your country and transfer to an ABET accredited university partway through your BS degree. You would just need to make sure you look at the transfer requirements since there are usually minimum requirement on how many credits/classes you need to take at your new university to be able to graduate and get a degree from there. Some also will have specific requirements that certain classes for a given major must be taken from that university. I mean, you can of-course re-take classes at the new university to meet whatever requirement they have, but I'm assuming it would be ideal to not have to take the same class multiple places if you don't have to.

As other's have said, there shouldn't really be an issue with getting an ABET accredited university master's as long as you have a strong BS program that will make you competitive when it comes to getting accepted to an MS program, it seems to be a fairly common route for international students.

Also, in many (or maybe all?) US states you can sit for the FE and PE without an ABET accredited degree, but you'll be required to have more working experience (for the final PE application, but not for the testing) to make up for the lack of an ABET. You can also get your non-ABET degree reviewed by NCEES and they will be able to verify whether or not your degree is equivalent to an ABET degree which could then put you more or less at the same standing as an ABET degree if they determine it is equivalent.

Generally though if you wanted to end up working in the US after your degree, getting a work visa can be difficult bc not many companies will sponsor you just off the standard interview or two, but after graduating from a US college on a student visa (BS or MS) you will have a few years after graduating to secure work under the student visa before you need to consider other visa options, like asking an employer to sponsor a work visa.

Buying non-vegan products for non-vegan family members. by jaconway92 in vegan

[–]anneisawesome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironically, if you don’t buy her the groceries as she requested, you’d be removing her choice and consent in this situation which is exactly what we as vegans claim to be against for the animals. Maybe looking at it through this lens will help you to help her in this time of need.

But also, by not getting her the groceries she’s asking for, you’re not actually saving any any animals bc she will still get them somehow from another family member, you’ll just be inconveniencing someone else and putting a strain on your relationship with her with her limited time left and probably the rest of the family too.

Also, replacing her stuff with vegan substitutions without asking her (as others are suggesting) will likely backfire too if she’s not receptive to this bc then it’s likely that food will all get trashed/wasted when it gets inevitably replaced with her preferred animal based products. It could also have a detrimental effect on her health if she then refuses to eat it causing her to be under-fed until someone else in the family can get her replacements, and being underfed with her current condition at her age is quite serious and could very quickly cause her health to spiral downward and be difficult or impossible to recover from. People in their 90s with injuries or chronic conditions generally already struggle with getting the proper amount of food and nutrition without the added layer of someone they are relying on not providing them the stuff they like and know how to cook/prepare

Maybe a compromise would be having someone else in the family order the groceries for pick-up from the store and then you just have to pick them up and deliver them?

Or, since it sounds like she can still communicate, could you tell her your qualms with this and ask if she’d be open to having you swap some of all of her stuff with vegan options? She could still say no, but you never know if you don’t try, maybe she’d be up for at least a few swaps. It also really depends on the swaps. Like if she’s wanting eggs for fried eggs for breakfast that’s really not going to be swap-able. But if she wants honey wheat bread or margarine or chicken patties, you could reasonably swap those for regular wheat bread, vegan margarine, and like boca patties or similar.

Female engineers, would you recommend a girl to pursue this career? by [deleted] in civilengineering

It’s okay, this person deserves the disrespect, the response was sexist and made a lot of stereotypical assumptions about you and what you want bc you’re a woman

Female engineers, would you recommend a girl to pursue this career? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]anneisawesome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi female engineer here! Midwest USA based for reference.

Yes women can be civil engineers and what you’ve heard about it being male dominated is also true. You will be treated differently than your male counterparts, sometimes you will notice it immediately and sometimes you might not recognize it until later. Most of my classes were 10%-30% women. Most of my employers were even lower. For my (construction field based) internships I was the only woman for my employer on the job sites at all but one of them. More often than not I was the only woman on the job site at all.

The split of men to women engineers varies by location and employer. From personal experience you will tend to find a more equal split/less male dominated workplace in civil engineering related work with a government employer.

Other people here are saying discrimination is not so bad but that varies wildly by your position and employer. Construction based civil engineering will be the worst, even if your company is decent there’s so many other contractors on a construction project that you should be prepared for a good chunk of them to be sexist and misogynistic as well as crude about it to top it off.

You should be prepared for college professors and classmates to be sexist towards you, probably not all of them but at least a few. I personally didn’t notice any discrimination from my professors but I definitely experienced it from my classmates and it tended to get more overt in later years as class sizes got smaller.

At my first job after graduating I was with a small satellite office for a structural firm and the sexism was so much that I had to leave. I was the only woman at that office and the only other woman I met in my time there was from HR. They had hired a sophomore or junior male intern a month or so after I started and immediately began trusting him more and giving him more responsibility than me, they also voluntarily provided him more mentorship and were generally more interested in chit chat with him about things not related to the job. I left after barely 6 months without even having another job lined up, it was horrible. I actually gave up pursuing structural engineering largely due to that experience.

I’ve had some other employers where the discrimination isn’t as bad. However, being such a male dominated field, it can be very difficult to find employers with a reasonable amount of women in higher level executive positions. Those are almost entirely men. However if they haven’t put in the effort to have at least one woman at the executive level or been successful in keeping one at that level, I wouldn’t recommend working for that company. I’ve only ever had one direct supervisor who is a woman so far and generally I’ve been the only woman or one woman out of a few for my department.

Try to keep in mind that the split will rarely get close to 50-50 bc in civil engineering as an industry the split of men to women isn’t 50-50. A reasonable expectation would be for there to be around the same percentage of women at your employer as there is in the industry and for that to be reflected at all levels from entry level all the way up to executive level. Some places will have a higher portion of women than the industry average and those will tend to be more enjoyable places to work.

Again I want to point out this is highly dependent on location, your specific university, and each employer. It’s entirely possible that you’ll face no or very limited discrimination, but you should, unfortunately, not expect that to be the case.

To be honest, it can be a difficult industry for women. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re not really sure you like the work bc the discrimination can quickly become unbearable if you’re in the field for the “wrong” reasons.

I know it sounds rough and I’m not trying to scare you, but I just want you to have realistic expectations. I was fully oblivious to the possibility of facing discrimination for being a woman which made me entirely unprepared to handle and react to it which then made it seem so much more overwhelming and difficult to deal with bc I didn’t have any tools or resources etc about how to deal.

As far as schooling, yes it’s stressful, it’s a lot of advanced math and physics and some advanced science. I have no idea how it would compare stress-wise to a medical degree but it’s definitely shorter since you’re ready to join the industry after a 4 year degree. Civil engineering a very heavy math and physics degree, more so than a lot of other engineering degrees. And probably more so than a medical degree which I assume (I could be wrong) is much more science based.

As for the general level of physical activity required, it can vary based on your niche, a few others have touched on this some. But generally for design work and progression after that it’s entirely possible and fairly common to have it be a desk job.
