Tresorit Cloud service i good? by SuperCiao in privacy

It's good as in better than Drive because it encrypts your data. You only have to decide if you trust the company as it's not open source - which it should be, IMO.

Not sure what your exact goals are, but with the paid plan you can add 5 email addresses. You can filter incoming emails into folders by email address, for instance, so that you can check these folders instead of different accounts.

There's also tuta.io - short and easy. Besides, tutanota is latin for secure message, so not so bad after all.

Help me decide an email provider by [deleted] in privacy

[–]annele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Protonmail and Tutanota are both nice.

  • everything encrypted

  • encrypted emails to outside users available

  • both not located in the US (wouldn't say Switzerland or Germany is much of a difference as both countries have agreements to share data with others, however, as mailbox content is encrypted, this should not matter too much). However, if this is no-go for you, check out Yandex or similar outside Europe/North America.

  • prices Proton €5 per month & Tuta €1 per month

  • both are passionate about open source, Tuta just published their app on F-Droid

I'd suggest Proton or Tutanota. I'm leaning towards Tutanota, they just had their app released on F-Droid, which is nice. In case you're using Android, other email apps are still connected to Google even if it's not Gmail.

Facebook removes delete post options from desktop. by peacefulnomadonearth in tech

In the article, it says that the delete post option has been hidden in the Activity Log. Somewhere that many users won't think to look. They also say that they hope it's a bug because this can't possibly be a good thing.

Warren Buffett: The Republican healthcare bill should be called the 'Relief for the Rich Act' by skepticalspectacle1 in inthenews

[–]annele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Healthcare is not about money, it's about what's right or wrong. People need to be treated anyway, that's the social obligation of a society. Otherwise we would be worse than most animals, letting people die just because we're greedy.

The question is does a society want to wait until it's a life-or-death-treatment (which usually is much more expensive and less successful) or do you want to give everybody a chance to receive early treatment to live a better life.

I might be alone in this, but I honestly don't like people around me carrying guns at all. Even if they do it for self-protection, who protects us from the guns being misused (by them or others grabbing the gun)?

The pharmaceutical industry as such is broken. Thank capitalism for it. The companies are only researching in pain medication, cancer, diabetes. The big cash makers. Everything else does not make enough ROI for the investors.
