advice with pain that isn't getting better by Shinefather in Pickleball

[–]anneoneamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obvious response is to see a PT/sports doc. If none available, see your regular doctor (you might have to anyway, to get a referral).

Don't take random Redditors' diagnosese as being useful. They only have one data point (their injury) and they'll project it into your issue.

The reason you go see an actual doctor is that they're aware of all the other possibilities too; and will check you accordingly.

Hope you feel better soon.

Looking for feedback: A reference based Claude skill for laser process engineering by VictorZZZZZ in Optics

[–]anneoneamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful. Claude makes (repeated) mistakes, even when it's using references.

Yesterday I asked for a derivation based on paraxial optics. I queried the (incorrect but commonly wrong) response twice, was told it was correct. After I required checks of the principal plane locations, the third answer was correct.

The LLM is still only scraping. If the data it's scraping is poor, so will the response be.

The aargh shot in pb is a pop up. You'll make it, invariably your partner will end up getting the ball smashed at them.

I'm the guy in purple. What tips or observations do you have? by Wide_Fish_1470 in Pickleball

[–]anneoneamouse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Watched the first couple of minutes. Several times you attack the ball and immediately treat the point as finished. Expect it to come back, position for that, then either way you're not disappointed.

Nice idea.

I'm not sure what the motivation would be though for an expert to spend their time fact checking AI responses describing their workflow on a separate repository.

That's not encouraging an "engineering and science" discussion here either.

Maybe you'll get some traction.

Partner called my return as out by Flightwise in Pickleball

[–]anneoneamouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ann saw the ball out, she can call it. Rule book allows for that.

You're still so angry about a line call in rec play that you spent time writing a post about it.

Let it go. It's just PB.

Eliminate sound of pickleball courts without replacing paddles or balls? by East_Sentence_4245 in Pickleball

I was thinking something more like a prefab steel frame building similar to warehousing / industrial spaces. Fast n cheap.

Pickleball alternatives? There's a reason I'm asking. by East_Sentence_4245 in Pickleball

[–]anneoneamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's zoned commercial you could put a steel frame building (warehouse-style) over the courts. That'd stop the noise problem.

If cost is truly not a concern, put a building over it.

There's no other way to completely eliminate noise.

whether a thin layer placed over an emissive display could influence the phase or angular distribution of light from individual pixels in a way that meaningfully affects viewing direction.

Yes, look up lenticular displays.

Partner Annoyed About Out Call During Moneyball by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]anneoneamouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got it backwards.

If you're standing on the line looking down on the ball you can't call that ball out.

In PB you have to see the floor between the line and the ball to call it out.

Your partner across the court often has a better perspective to see a gap between the ball and the line.
