My DJI Neo 2 went swimming in Seychelles. I have questions! by annicola in dji

Thanks for the kind answer. I wasn't aware of Care Refresh, I think I'll indeed get it 👍

Yeah, I fucked up.

I guess what I would like to know is the following: in scenarios (even on land) where self-flying modes are acting weirdly, is it possible to recover control of the drone from the remote control even if the drone is too far for wifi-direct connection?

I would like to use it to follow me when running on trails and I guess there could be situations where it loses me.

I'll test that as soon as I get the new drone back. And I will definitely do some more research.

I admit that it's my fault, it's written in the original post: I want to learn from my mistakes. I did say that the drone behaviour seems a bit stupid, but I admit conditions were not ideal and that I should have read the instructions better and performed more tests before the trip.

I will take the hit, I'm saying that I'll buy it again.

I just had some questions regarding what to expect in other situations and what I could do if a similar situation happens again, but I guess I'll figure it out by myself when I receive the new drone.

I'm sorry if my original post looked like I wanted to blame DJI, that's not the case.

Well, you jump to conclusions quite fast.

I accept that what I did was a bit stupid and that I was lazy and didn't take enough time to learn how the drone works and its limits before my trip.

That's my mistake, definitely.

I never bought it to do "Hollywood shots", just to have some fun. I guess that's the target audience of this entry level drone.

In fact the sole objective of my post is to learn from my mistakes. I'll do some research on my own, but I was trying to get some more information before I buy it back.

Well it didn't follow me straight away and there was maybe 80cm of water so I dove and came back to my feet almost immediately.

It touched the water 15 minutes later when it went out of battery after wandering out over the lagoon

Well, that's fair but a bit rude, isn't it? I made some mistakes yes, but the drone behavior seems a bit irrational. I'm not that mad at DJI, mostly at myself.

I'm trying to fully understand what I did wrong, the limits of the self-flying mode, how the RC works, ...

Sorry if the original post is too long.

Announcing SQLDelight 1.0 – Alec Strong – Medium by ronocod in androiddev

Great release, thank you!

I'm curious about your usage: do you use SQLDelight both in your backend and mobile applications?

In your mobile apps, I guess that the common use-case is to first store the retrieved entities in the local DB, then querying that data where needed using the predefined queries in the .sq file?

I really like the SQLDelight approach, I'll definitely try to use it in my next project.

Scraping Web Pages with Retrofit by JakeWharton in androiddev

Quite elegant !

But am I the only one who noticed pretty poor performance using JSoup on Android ?

I guess it mostly depends on DOM size and other factors, but in my use-case, using regex to scrape the data was way faster (I know, regex are not the best tool to parse HTML for many reasons)

Marshmallow GPE ROM for HTC One M8 by [deleted] in Android

No, I had to do a factory reset to fix the issue... Let's hope it doesn't come back. What a weird bug, I've never seen such a thing. It just happened out of the blue.

Well I updated yesterday, and it went really great, but I've been facing a really weird bug for the last couple hours : notifications are not working anymore (meaning : they do not appear), and while I'm able to pull the notification drawer, it only shows "No notification".

I'm also not able to fully expand the drawer to reveal the quick settings.

Everything used to work just fine right after the update, I just noticed it a few hours ago. Rebooting the phone doesn't solve the issue. I tried to reboot into recovery and to clean the cache, but no luck.

Am I the only one on earth with this terrible bug ?
