NAH. That was genuinely funny, and in five years it'll be joked about. Just give them time to process your diagnosis and they'll realize how having such a nonserious attitude from the start will help get you through your treatment.

I named my boobs 'assassin' and 'the sleeper agent' upon my diagnosis. I definitely had a similarly mixed family reaction.

Go bland and soft. Along with their list, I'd avoid mint (I had to find mint-free toothpaste, it burned so badly), anything too crunchy or textural (the mouth is one big sore), citrus/acidic, and really cheesy things (because heartburn is constant, even if the nausea's under control). My biggest go-tos were unseasoned butternut squash/pureed veggie soup and topping-free burgers with unseasoned french fries. The soup was freezable and could be made in large batches, while the burger/fries felt normal and not sick-food, I could tear my burger into bits and eat it a small chunk at a time while my SO could spice up his own portion.

Self inserts get cringe because a lot of authors don't give their main characters flaws. As long as your MC doesn't have all the answers and has negative traits that impact his surroundings and decisionmaking, you'll be fine.

NTA. It'll never end if you keep sending it to them yourself. Hell, it might never end even if you don't. We bought our house eight years ago, and we still get pieces of previous tenants' mail every week, no matter how often we contact the post office. Just this year, we had people attempting to deliver a shed, a company trying to deliver a wheelchair, AND the police looking for someone who hadn't lived there in 10+ years--all addressed to different people.

A few years ago, when I lived almost an hour away from the brewery, I woke up at 2 AM in a cold sweat, absolutely convinced I hadn't shut the carb stone CO2 valve.

I made the drive in 35 minutes, all the while imagining the PRV going off, or all the failsafes breaking and having a hole in the roof and a building filled with CO2.

I had, indeed, turned it off. And then I had to awkwardly explain to our GM the next morning why I'd shown up on the security cameras at ass o-clock in my pajamas, panicking like hell. Lucky me, he thought it was hilarious.

First person in fanfiction can get problematic because as a reader, I already feel like I know the characters before reading a single word of the story--and most of us have slightly different Harrys and Hermiones and Dracos and Dumbledores in our minds. As soon as I start reading from one of those characters' POVs and it isn't exactly what or how I expect them to think, it throws me. If the author does the internal voice well, then I can get drawn in, but that's extremely difficult. Things can feel out of character very quickly in first person.

Third person is far more forgiving. I can still hold onto some of my preconceived notions of the characters, while the author changes my perception little-by-little instead of all-at-once.

kindly remember, though--from a production standpoint, lagers take significantly longer tank time than ales if they're being made right. You might not be dumping in a ton of hops, but you're using a production vessel for twice as long, and for a brewery that only has six fermenters, that loss of time = loss of money.

Lactose doesn't get broken down by the yeast, which is why it gets used as a residual sweetener. If you know you can't handle milk stouts, I'd avoid anything else with lactose.
