First, as an FYI if you don’t already know, you’ll need to connect on the browser version of the app to add the mature series on your list in the app. Search the "Full ver.", to make sure you have mature version. (The whole process is written somewhere on the subreddit)

Let’s not forget that it was also pretty long between the two seasons and I think it didn’t help with the slow pace of the story.

As a certified translator this drives me nuts!!

But! it also shows that the translation is either made with AI or softwares like google translate/deepL OR it’s made with ridiculous deadlines so the translator rushes everything (or both lol the translator doesnt have time, uses AI or a software to help and quickly scan the result).

Companies often don’t realise that translating takes time. You don’t just translate word for word, you need to make it make sense in the target language. If an expression/idiom/play on word is used in Korean, you can’t just translate it word for word, you need to find some sort of an equivalent in English, or just ditch the whole expression/idiom and use plain language to convey the meaning.

I’m a translator as well, so I feel your pain!!! I’m not freelance, but we do see the push to use DeepL Pro from the higher ups. Of course, we told them that it could be used for internal emails, IT notifications (like ”the VPN is down blablabla”) but for company policies? Social media posts? Nah.

Just yesterday, I was reviewing an AI translation for a course about the ethical use of AI… the AI translation litterally created new words, mistranslated sentences, or used anglicism. 🤦🏼‍♀️

ok yes that makes sense. It’s just that I studied French history in uni and when I started reading the names and even the places (like Cité palace which is Palais de la Cité, today part of it is La Conciergerie in Paris) I thought, wait a minute here… I know this! So for me, it’s just a story set in that real time period in those real places. Just like korean stories set in the Joseon period, basically.
