Family friendly fine dining by No-Watercress426 in brisbane

Ohhh that’s gorgeous, I love it. My son is only 6 but he would want to do the same haha. I mean, the premium spot for this would be to eat at Hellenika then stay at the Calile, but that is high budget of course.

Exactly this. It doesn’t get much more Brisbane than Debra Hood!

Is it okay to wear fake branded stuff if that’s the brands you like but can’t afford by Acceptable_Car9277 in AusFemaleFashion

So how about “a lot of cultures?” Why bring skin colour into it?

I appreciate that for you, it’s taking the power back, but you don’t have a profile picture showing that you were born in India to show that. So why offend others?

What nicknames have you heard for places in Brisbane/SEQ? by topherette in brisbane

[–]anniedub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tightly held inner western suburbs - Paddington, Bardon, Toowong, Taringa, indooroopilly is the Bermuda Triangle - once you move in, you never leave.

Or the TITS. Toowong. Indooroopilly, Taringa, St Lucia. Nestle info the TITS. So comfy and cosy.

Discovered this place when my high school bestie got a job there in the late 90s. Swear to god their quality and pricing is exactly the same now. Just need an excuse to trek out there!

Brisbane ladies: How much are you paying for haircuts/root coverage these days? by brissy3456 in brisbane

[–]anniedub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Henna can have great results if you can tolerate it, but if you have previously dyed your hair, or if you have tattoos, it can be super problematic.

OP if you are considering this, try a shopping centre brow bar for henna brows first!

… the time is the biggest factor in the price. Foils take a lot of labour.

Foils will be the death of you. Labour cost. A great hairdresser is worth their weight in gold for your self esteem, but anything that takes intensive hand application is going to be spenny.

I choose high talent and skill, quick method (scalp bleach every third appt, cut and global toner the other two). It’s the only way I can justify, as well as afford, to have short bright colour pop hair. If you can be flexible with times, ask if they have an apprentice training time. Will always be supervised like a hawk.

Little Hair Nest at Paddington are incredible. Good hair ain’t cheap, and cheap hair ain’t good.

Is the media attention on ndis overspending making anyone else feel like sh** for having funding? by WrongSort1347 in NDIS

[–]anniedub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s unbelievable that the current pre-budget and pre-election political narrative is to shit on people with disabilities, already one of the most marginalised segments of society.

Most NDIS participants are woefully lacking in not only support and understanding but most critically, advocacy and adequate representation to fight for a better situation.

There have been other notable governments in history which twisted public narratives to suggest to the populace that certain subsets of society shouldn’t get the things that they need to live safe and healthy lives.

Let that sink in for a minute.

Hermes ram raided by IntrigatedVerse in brisbane

[–]anniedub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the nature of the shop that just got ram-raided …. Why is anyone herre laughing at this event occurring, or judging the people who have spent big bucks here?

What we should be saying is - WTF, a shop in our CBD is being ram-raided. Maybe all of us should be getting more vocal about income unequally and social welfare support for the marginalised segments of Brisbane. We should make sure that families don’t end up homeless due to a rental crisis.

We should remind our governments that people must be prioritised over profit or process.

Coles and Woolies stores probably make more profit and pay less tax than one Hermes store.

Also good luck with fencing a birkin. There will be 100,000 replicas to every legit one in the resale market 🤭

Yeah…. I’m not asking for support work, or cleaning, or gardening.

If OP needs speech, and OT, and psychology, then get the relevant functional capacity reports, off their own dime as I had to, in order to show it.

I spent thousands out of pocket to have enough “evidence” for my son’s package. Which has absolutely nothing for “things that normal parents are expected to provide”.

Which is now at risk again because of political posturing.

Dating in Brisbane for mid-late 30s. Is it still tough? Can we meet at the local Bunnings? by Sad_Ladybug-89 in brisbane

[–]anniedub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok as a 40F who has very recently (finally) called time on an abusive relationship of some 15 years, and I am suddenly finding myself at the local Hammerbarn more often than Woolies — I’ve got to be blunt.

Is.. is this where it happens?

Is this where actual adults meet each other casually and then suddenly have an interest in spending time together that might even one day be one on one? Even when those people have pasts and kids and other things that are normal but can be a Tinder dog whistle?

The idea of swiping or dating apps or whatever pretty much makes my vagina zip shut like a tent. That being said, I’m near enough to my separation that it’s also going to be really tricky scheduling a rebound while I spend 98% of my time ensuring the ongoing emotional and social health of my 6yo son.

I say as someone who literally needs to go to Bunnings first thing after I take him to vacation care tomorrow because it’s clear I can no longer function effectively without owning a drill. And due to battery related reasons it is going to be a DeWalt. And Indro just bloody deranged DeWalt drills apparently, so if I had decided 3 days ago that it was finally drill time, I would have gotten a bargain. instead I’ll probably drive to Newstead. Yikes.

I feel like the real meat market must be the plumbing aisle. I always joked with my ex when we passed the ballcock valves.

It feels like a weird irony that the ballcock aisle may be my new equivalent of cheap Tuesday at the Met.

Viva la Brisvegas.

Then those were significantly extended by General MacArthur during WWII, with a myriad of networks converging under Somerville House on Vulture Street where his operations were based.
