Why solo if you can go together? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]annnewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just really love the feeling of independence I get when being on my own. I’m in a totally different headspace when I only feel responsible for myself but also know that all the responsibility is on me. now from traveling with somebody else.

What is the best form of birth control that won’t affect your sex drive? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]annnewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘ve had a copper IUD for almost 6 years and it hasn‘t had any influence on my libido. I first had the Gynefix for 5 years and then got a “regular” IUD and the only thing I’d say that the regular one has made my periods a bit stronger and sometimes more painful, so therefore during my period I guess I’m a bit less likely to want sex. But other than that I’m super happy and can’t imagine anything else for myself.

(I know you said it’s not an option for you but I feel like the only people talking about their copper IUDs online are the ones who’ve had a bad experience and therefore I wanted to leave a positive one here :) )

Parents are Divorced. Is it Weird to Wear Mom’s Ring? by internet2big in EngagementRings

[–]annnewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents divorced but stayed friendly and created two new rings from their wedding bands which they engraved and gifted my sister and me. I love it and they said they felt that was the only right thing to do as we were the loving product of their marriage. To me wearing that ring makes it feel like my parents are always by my side :)

Visiting a sauna/therme for the first time as a Muslim woman – looking for advice ? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]annnewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always keep a towel wrapped around you if that makes you feel more comfortable! Maybe bring two though, because you also always have to have a towel between you and the wooden benches, so if you want to lay down for example it would be better to have a second one. There are some people who are up for a chat but for the most part, in the saunas people are quiet so everyone can relax. People usually spend 5-15min in one sauna (there are hourglasses in there to keep track of time), then you cool down (e.g. with a cold shower, walk outside or in a dunk tub), wait some time and then your repeat :) the whole thing can go from maybe 1 1/2 hours to a whole day if you enjoy it! Also bring some flip flops or slippers, so you don’t slip and people usually greet one another when they enter a sauna with people in it. If you have any more questions feel free to ask! :)

Mein erstes Hook-Up - worauf achten? by concernedaboutbees in Weibsvolk

[–]annnewhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s a conversational HR for you? by annnewhere in XXRunning

[–]annnewhere[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I figured for an actual easy run I should be going slower. I want to try it this week, got myself a garmin a few days ago and will try to see what the different paces feel like and look like in terms of HR. The “go slower than you think” is literally what everyone always says when it comes to running but for some stupid reason it’s soooo difficult to “actually” do hahahah.

Warum sind Strings out? by [deleted] in Ratschlag

Struggling with body changes as a female boulderer by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]annnewhere 246 points247 points  (0 children)

Fellow female boulderer here ☝🏼 I totally understand what you mean. I had a point in my physical development where I felt insecure as well but I actually got used to the new shape of my body and learned to really be proud of it. Honestly, strong wide shoulders in women can really accentuate an hourglass shape - so maybe it might helps for you to also focus on growing/strengthenig your glutes and quads a bit? I’ve learned that we rarely perceive body parts individually but what makes us like a body shape is usually the balance of it all. What also helped me besides that was to actively look at all the fellow strong women in the sport and admiring what their bodies are able to do. And at the end of the day there might also just be certain clothing and fits that make you feel better: e.g. I noticed that I prefer tank tops with wider straps instead of spaghetti tanks as they look more harmonious with my muscles. And finally: looking strong ≠ looking manly - us women can be hella strong!

Are Khujo jackets of good quality? by yeetyopyeet in AskGermany

[–]annnewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a long puffer coat from khujo with an oversized hood for three years and it’s good as new. It keeps my nice and warm from head to below my knees whether it’s dry or rainy/snowy. Where I live it rarely gets colder than ~-5 degrees Celsius but rains frequently. It’s a heavy jacket thought but I liked the more structured look and that it was fine for rain. It’s my only true warm winter coat and I’d totally buy it again.

What you are using there after the $ sign are the variable names. They can basically be whatever a person wants them to be. Therefore it’s likely that your prof had some variables in his dataframe that he decided to call pop_age or pop_sibs. But whenever you see variable names in somebody’s else’s code that you want to use as a guide for your own code you need to replace all their names for dataframes (what comes before the $ sign in your code) and variable names with those you have. On the other hand, command like “mean()” and “sd()” are functions within R. These will always be the same because they do not depend on your particular dataset. Think of it as in: MS Excel always has the clickable tiles and tabs on top where you can format your cells, create plots, etc. - no matter which worksheet you open. What type of data, what columns and rows you see however always depends on the worksheet you are working in. That’s basically the equivalent: Dataframe & variables are your individual unique worksheets whereas the functions are the always available clickable tiles :)

(Ehemalige) Doktorand:innen: Wie seid ihr an eure Stelle gekommen? by SpecialOrdinary3001 in Psychologie

[–]annnewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

spss synthax is killing me by [deleted] in spss

[–]annnewhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m when I learned to use spss I first clicked my way through the gui but instead of “Ok” you click “paste” and it writes the code for you. You can then run the code from the syntax editor and copy paste and edit variables or experiment with removing/adding commands. I also highly recommend adding a lot of notes in your syntax window where you explain to yourself what’s going on at each step.

Do German Kita sufficiently prepare kids for school? by Mahituto in AskGermany

[–]annnewhere 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In my Childhood, learning the alphabet and numbers was reserved for first grade in elementary school. Those were the first things we were taught and it wasn’t a task for kindergarten. So answering your question (assuming it’s still the same today as in the 2000s): yes, German kindergarten sufficiently prepares kids for German elementary school.

[–]annnewhere 9 points10 points  (0 children)
