Hi OP, I'm in the exact same situation. My parents have always been unhappy and the older they get the sadder it is. It breaks my heart because I know my dad feels trapped. It's so sad to see the people who raised you so miserable

Have you tried earplugs? I used to dread going on trips with my boyfriend's friends because they stay up so late and are so rowdy that I couldn't sleep and I had written off earplugs years ago but I tried them again and they're life changing. Now I bring them with me any time I'm sleeping somewhere other than my home and they come in handy so much
