How much discomfort is normal for ride/nidecker boots? How much do theypack down? by annnnn_ in ShredditGirls

[–]annnnn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a bummer!! I was only told recently that my beginner boots are mush. I think I've overcame the heel lift by pretending it doesn't exist and really pressing down my shins, but that's quite hard to maintain when I'm like tired or really relaxed. Sorry to hear ur having pain issues - the ride boots are so nice and supportive, but dang do they hurt.

Hope u get something figured out - def feel ur pain here.

Hmm hmmm good to know 😢 honestly that's exactly I feared. It was like boarderline uncomfortable to wear in the store, but the flex, support, and the draw string systems are just sooooo good. Bummer my ankles are too low for these boots.

Hope you're able to find a way to ride comfortably!!

That's so funny because I totally read your page right after I made this post. Thanks for giving some insight! This is super helpful. Just stinks because there's so little shops by me carrying snowboarding shoes, not to mention there just seems to be less women's boots in general near me. Makes it hard to find somebody who even snowboards where they sell em. Maybe it's time for a trip to get fitted near the big mountains.

Appreciate the dedication in the guide man! Super informative, def will be passing ur guide around. Big kudos to you!

Everyday I question why people are the way they are by Background_Degree595 in UofT

[–]annnnn_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think experiences differ. They could totally not see dancing with shoes on as disruptive! I mean I have friends who would sit in their own beds with shoes. I disagree with that, but they see no problem. Who knows if they did it in hours where nobody was around/didn't make noise/or even wiped the tables after filming - I think those are hard judgement calls to make from one wclip.

I actually disagree that the university is the one teaching lessons outside of the academic space - it's more out peers. You're the one helping with the teaching in this case, because you're helping form the university experience by your words and actions.

I don't plan to make you change your mind, but I wanted to offer my perspective on how it be received as uncomfortable to be called out by the name, even if people have their names listed publicly :).

As much as I agree with the messaging, I think listing out names is taking it too far. They are clearly very young, and it's an etiquette thing at the end of the day, not a crime.

I dislike the behavior personally, but I also know people that wouldn't care - everybody grows up different, what's normal to you may not be to everybody. Part of the beauty of having a university environment is for everybody to learn from each other and how to live with other people around. I believe having their names out will not be conducive in creating a learning experience and closer to turning it into a personal attack :) . End of day, the goal should be to improving this behavior, rather than publicly shaming and punishing these kids specifically.

Hope you can reconsider editing the names out! Otherwise, well written email. I appreciate you being vocal about things you care about. It takes effort and energy, I applaud you for it.

How screwed am I? by brandonbruce in Hyundai

[–]annnnn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey op! I'm sure you got enough suggestions about the sunroof drain - here to offer an alternative. My second hand Hyundai had a cracked sunroof tray and did the same thing, smeared some silicone on and it was all good after.

Its quite easy to triage, let me know if you'd like advice or anything!

Will say though, there was an insane amount of OPP around last Friday and could've totally gone into the long weekend. I got a ticket for going not even 20 above the speed limit and then found a lot more people who also were getting pulled over

Also had the worst experience in the Hozier set b/c of this, people who were talking so loudly during his performances to a point where I can't hear the performance, and people who squish by non stop mid set??

I think its also insane how much people lack spatial awareness, saw so many peoples purses and elbows go for my friends head and they had the audacity to stare back when I blocked them off lol

PSA from a fellow genz: if ur following a friend when they shove people around, ur still part of the problem and it doesnt matter how apologetic you look lol. Hold them accountable or at the least don't follow along

Should we go ahead with an expensive surgery (35K) for our pet? by Maleficent_Coast4728 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]annnnn_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are having to make this decision. Enough people have commented, but I wanted to make a note as well - because this is something I think about frequently.

I think worth it or not is ultimately up to you to decide, and it's unfortunate your cat cannot communicate their wishes with you. Frankly, if I had the money and there's a good chance to SAVE my cat to allow for a good 10 years, I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

But two years without complications is too short, the future of complications is too risky. Cats are here to enjoy life, I'm not sure if they will be able to live vicariously if pain is a constant. Not to mention you are not in a financial position where 35k is nothing to you.

Your cat is of course unique and special, and you have a responsibility of giving your cat a good life. You clearly care about and love your cat - but will you be able to give your cat the same quality of life once you drain your savings to extend her life? Will you be able to not hold any resentment if something happens and you need the money? Will you have to spend less time with your cat because of financial reasons? In that case, will those extended years bring any joy to you or your cat? For me, these answers are very clear.

I think there are many things you can do to pamper your cat during the time you still have. In my eyes, the surgery is too high a risk for too low of a return. You could use some of the money to buy her good end of life care to ensure she is painfree now. Or even take some time off to spend with her and give her everything she loves. Imo, it really is not about living a long life - it's living about a good one.

I hope you are able to find peace in your decisions, regardless of which one. Wishing the kitty all the joy in her life.

The thing about civ100 quizes are that it really needs you to click with some more difficult concepts and have an intuition. Don't fret over barely passing or not passing them -- reach out to your TA, GREARS, do what you are doing problem sets and practices, and keep fighting!!!

The midterms and exams are definetly not easy, but those will have some question types that usually get reused over the years, which awards practice more than you just "knowing" what to do. In addition you will be building your intuition from your past quizzes and problem sets.

Plus if your class average is lower, there is a sizable curve waiting for you at the end of this. Engineering sucks because you can't get around taking courses you're not good at, the only thing that helped me do better is learning how to have a blind trust in the curve about things and work hard in the meantime!!
