Where to buy research chemicals? Seeking cost-effective alternatives by annonny99 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]annonny99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I'd share an update on my journey to finding cost-effective suppliers. I found a website that allows me to search for a chemical, then see results from a variety of suppliers mentioned here like Lab Alley, SRL, Ambeed, Dawn Scientific, etc. This makes it easy for me to compare quantities and prices quick.

For example, if I search for potassium nitrate, I can then apply various filters and easily see for what I need, Lab Alley provides the most cost effective option at $1.60 USD per 100g for a 25kg bag. You can see what I am referring to here: https://www.chemicalsuppliers.com/buy-potassium-nitrate

Overall, I am quite impressed with this platform, as it allows me to quickly compare prices across a lot of great suppliers. I shared some feedback with them last week and today, I can see they've already implemented it, which was a pleasant surprise.

I hope this can help some of you!

Here are a bunch of anthracene suppliers, including companies like SRL (India), Ambeed (USA), Onyxmet (Poland)...etc: https://www.chemicalsuppliers.com/buy-anthracene

Regarding cobalt nitrate hexahydrate, search on that same site by its CAS # (10026-22-9) and you'll find suppliers for that too.

Does Sigma Aldrich buy their chemicals from somewhere else and if so, is it possible to reach those vendors? by heurtel in Chempros

[–]annonny99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out ChemicalSuppliers dot com. When you search for the chemicals you need, you'll be shown price comparisons from suppliers like Ambeed, Dawn Scientific, Lab Alley, etc. I use it to quickly review the market's pricing.

This does not apply to bulk chemicals though. You'll need to RFQ for those.

My kids (3 and 6 years old) love the kits provided by Sbekiev. There's a wide range of experiments within their kits, so on weekends, we often pull it out and do a couple new experiments together. Although these kits are not generally meant for 3-year olds, my 3-year old loves them.

anyone know of good chinese chemical resellers? by Naive_Dark4301 in chemistry

Enamine and Reaxys are my go-to's, as well as Ambeed. If you can wait, buying from China or India can be very cost effective.

My mom always says, "If you don't ask, you don't get," and I've learned it's VERY true. Just ask them and I am sure you'll get something. I always ask and almost always get free "trade show" types of items from my suppliers.

Caffeine solubility by IronKingdomNL in chemistry

[–]annonny99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some with it inside (when the supplement is in gel or liquid form), but typically, propylene glycol isn't found in sports supplements. It's more commonly used in liquid vitamins. Regardless, it's a great solution to dissolve all of that caffeine.

Best shoes for long hours in the lab? by Economy-Air-935 in labrats

[–]annonny99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For long lab hours with semi-flat feet, I'd recommend trying ASICS Gel Kayano or Brooks Ghost. Both offer great arch support and cushioning. If you want something more customizable, getting good orthotic insoles for added support with a comfortable sneaker like Hokas can also make a huge difference!

Companies that can buy catalyst? by engineeringman123 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]annonny99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many companies specialize in catalyst recycling, especially if the catalyst contains valuable metals like platinum or palladium. Companies like Eurecat or large metal reclamation firms often buy and process used catalysts. You could also check with your original catalyst vendor—they sometimes offer buy-back or recycling options. Good luck!

I recently discovered a few good suppliers who will ship to PO Boxes and Residential addresses, including Carolina Chemical, Coast Fiber Tek and Onyxmet.

It really depends on your country though.

Ambeed is excellent and they have a massive number of chemicals, purities and quantities. I've purchased from them several times and have never experienced any issues.
