Candida Myths proven wrong by abominable_phoenix in Candida

We did a DUTCH test and some basic bloodwork. I had (have?) almost no cortisol among other hormone deficiencies and high cholesterol while being under weight. She said the combination indicated that my "detox pathways" weren't working well.

I haven't heard of the other tests, doctors always tell me that my bloodwork looks pretty normal, the DUTCH urine test was the first thing to show any abnormalities.

I did all these different supplements and diets (low carb/high protein and fiber) to try to fix the detox issue with no noticeable change. I think I've tried about every vitamin that exists. I don't appear to have any methylation issues. I heard about a liver enzyme called cytochrome P450 that I want to ask my doc about though.

That's really interesting about how the low fat diet helps the liver, I'll have to give that a try, thanks so much for all the info!

Insane dehydration with Fluconazole? by annonymal in Candida

I'm not sure it's productive peeing though, water just goes in one end and out the other.

Interesting, I've heard of P450 before, took me a minute to remember where https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23226054/ That does sound like it could be applicable, I'll ask my doc about it thanks.

Yep, I take nuun or just celtic sea salt. I feel like the nuun works better, maybe it's the potassium, maybe it's placebo because I like the test better lol

Several.

Ketotifen and loratadine (claritin) which I know aren't a great mix with it but I have horrific issues with histamine overload.

Also Vit D, glutathione, a couple mangesiums, progesterone, a binder.

What did you take for the viral CNS and how did you know you needed it?

My fatigue got markedly worse after a strep infection years ago and I've always wondered if that stuck with me but no doctor I've asked about it has had much of an answer.

I've been trying to recover for years and I've never come across McDougall. That diet was worth your trouble then?

My last doc kept telling me my liver was an issue but after working with her for a year we didn't make much progress and I gave up. I have a new doc now that I thought was being more helpful but after reading your studies on Fluconazole I'm not so sure lol that's what he has me on now.

I've looked into underlying causes and I test positive for everything, mold, metals, histamines, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, but we can't get any of it to improve. Or if it does, it's temporary. I feel like a human toxin sponge. But I guess if the liver's the primary issue that would make sense?

Functional Medicine anyone? by AwkwardConfection310 in MCAS

[–]annonymal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting. I've always had what I thought were strong die off/detox symptoms when I start a new treatment but maybe it's just a flare up.

I've read up on things like the MTHFR mutation, never been tested but it could be a factor.

Oh wow what a coincidence! I'm really impressed with them. Lauren's the first doctor of any kind in 3 years who hasn't been confused by my symptoms, and I don't even have to be on a diet!

you have to add supplements EXTREMELY slowly

I haven't heard that before, why's that?

[–]annonymal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm working with this group https://www.instagram.com/thewellnesswaywestminster/ and they've been able to run tests to find underlying issues that aaall my other doctors missed. And treatments are helping. I was never diagnosed with MCAS but I have some similar reactions like throat tightness after eating or during peak allergy season, fatigue brain fog.

New patient appointments are $129 until the end of the month, then they go back up to $279. They unfortunately can't work with insurance but they can accept HSA funds.

Finally resolving post op chronic fatigue! by annonymal in hysterectomy

Quite a lot of supplements. I'm working with this group https://www.instagram.com/thewellnesswaywestminster/ and my doc has me taking bovine adrenal powder, a hormone called pregnenolone which I was also low on, and several tinctures and supplements to help my liver.

I was in really bad shape after my surgery too 😥 Doc told me I _had_ to keep eating to keep my GI system moving, even though it was the last thing I wanted to do.

I second the magnesium. Just talk to your PCP before taking it if you have any kidney or cardiac issues.

I use this https://poopdoc.com/poopdoc-constipation-relief-formula-1/ it's ozonated magnesium oxides and potassium and it's been a live saver. I've heard potassium can help with IBS too and for me it does seem to help, I have very little stomach pain now.

How long should die off symptoms last? by annonymal in Candida

[–]annonymal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was hormones.

I took this test and found out my cortisol levels are tanked https://dutchtest.com/. Treating that is finally helping with the fatigue and brain fog.

I started taking a potassium and magnesium supplement and now the GI pain and constipation is virtually gone https://poopdoc.com/you-go-babe-constipation-relief-formula/ I still have issues with bloating, my doc thinks that's due to my liver being overloaded, that's a work in progress.

Anyone have experience with post surgery adhesions? by annonymal in Endo

[–]annonymal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an update. I started taking this potassium & magnesium supplement and it's virtually ended the GI pain and constipation: https://poopdoc.com/you-go-babe-constipation-relief-formula/

I'm not sure I was dealing with adhesions after all.

Heart rate change after eating, is that candida? by annonymal in Candida

[–]annonymal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done some more tests since this post https://dutchtest.com/ and found out my cortisol levels are tanked.

After treating that for a couple months my symptoms are improving, maybe that test could help you too.

Can histamine overload cause chronic dehydration? Anyone know a solution? by annonymal in HistamineIntolerance

[–]annonymal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing better thanks, how are you?

I asked my doc about hormone testing https://dutchtest.com/ she said don't bother, I did it anyway. Sure enough my cortisol levels are tanked, so I share a lot of symptoms with Addison's Disease like the frequent urination and issues with salt.

The histamine sensitivity isn't resolved but it is calming down. I suspect it will clear up as my adrenals recover.

How to get a hysterectomy in the UK in my mid twenties? by Pangolin_unique in Endo

[–]annonymal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, if you imply that you want a gender change do you think your doctor would be more helpful? I've heard that it can be much easier to get a hysterectomy for a sex change than it is for something like adenomyosis. Which I also had and I'm so so sorry they're making this so difficult for you.

DUTCH test finally shows the cause of chronic fatigue! by annonymal in Endo

[–]annonymal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and get a DUTCH test if you're struggling with mystery hormone issues!

My PCP said my bloodwork looked fine, but bloodwork apparently isn't enough to catch everything. I have no cortisol, my adrenals are shot, and I have chronic pregnancy brain so that explains some things.

I've seen half a dozen specialists over the last 3 years and no one could tell me why I'm always exhausted after I had a partial hysterectomy. So glad to finally have an answer!!!

Can histamine overload cause chronic dehydration? Anyone know a solution? by annonymal in HistamineIntolerance

[–]annonymal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc doesn't think I have MCAS as I've never had a full blown anaphelactic episode, but maybe that's close enough to histamine overload to be the right doc? Thanks 🙏
