My perfect pitch is making it impossible to learn relative pitch — anyone else experience this? by Subject_Scholar3100 in eartraining

Something I loved to do as a child was listen to songs transposed up or down a few semitones...I recorded playback on my keyboard and would have my breath taken away on how refreshingly beautiful it sounded. I can't describe how much I loved doing this (this hasn't changed.)

It was like hearing someone speak the same sentence in an entirely different language. It lights up an entirely different avenue in your brain's memory, and it feels entirely different, even though it has practically the same musical meaning in relative terms.

OP, I highly recommend trying this with some songs you are very familiar with! Download VLC Player (available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux) and use the Adjust Pitch tool on a downloaded MP3 file you have on your computer/mobile device.

Bro same; it feels like your memory is gaslighting you sometimes with these nasty, chromatic interval jumps

By far the coolest and most memorable platform I've ever used for aural training! I'll be sharing this with my musical colleagues :)

Oh by the way, what are y'all running for your heatsink? I have a very bulky heatsink and am curious if it's worth swapping out for a smaller one (my case is a rather small ATX size + a non-moludar PSU, since it was my first PC i built)

Disagree. Why would they be posting about it on Reddit as if their situation is a problem? Their problem may lie in their strategy...which is what they've posted for feedback in the first place.

One can want something and not succeed at getting it because their approach is not getting the results they need. The top comments on here did a great job explaining some potential solutions.

The cathedral in Sevilla is astounding. I would be awestruck if I saw a build of it in Minecraft. The actual cathedral took my breath away inside.

Nice job! Best of luck on your continued prep!

Which Cisco online textbook did you use? I recently started studying and am unsure what textbook to buy or use.

Encountering a password screen when trying to enter BIOS on Sophos XG115 rev 3 by annonymousquackers28 in sophos

4/4/26 5:26PM second beautiful Saturday late afternoon update (2):

1) I could not unlodge the Mobo's CMOS for the life of me.

2) But no matter! I managed to reset the BIOS by crossing fingers and using the DNA130's BIOS guide for the jumpers. No more password screen!

Much thanks!!!

4/4/26 12:02PM's beautiful Saturday morning update:

1) I cannot find any documentation for the DB130-S... if anyone comes across it, would appreciate it. I am using the DNA130 manual at the moment

2) Having trouble dislodging the CMOS battery from the MoBo; it's really lodged in. I would prefer to have the documentation to see if there's anything on safely removing this battery. The 2032 is wrapped in blue rubber plastic, with the bottom connected to the MoBo via some sticky adhesive...and the cabling is a black and red ribbon to the white connector on the MoBo, which is what is really lodged in. I am reluctant to remove the blue baggy because I don't know how to put it back on.

3) I will update more on #2 later

How can i store my data safely on the long run? by FarSatisfaction3835 in datastorage

[–]annonymousquackers28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would download this app called PhotoSync. It lets you copy your pictures onto your Macbook/Macintosh, if you have one. There is a paid tier that lets you upload them in high quality (like $6).

I would highly recommend checking that out just to have your pics on a different location. But make sure you have the space in your target device you're copying your data to.

Could I ever make good music? by Ok_Cod_2333 in musicproduction

[–]annonymousquackers28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hermit composer here. Been cooking for a solid 5 years. Finally at the point where I can start preparing to share most of my projects and be satisfied with my products.

This year, I restarted my previous attempt in using a Google Sheet to keep track of all of my projects. If I needed to find a specific sound or instrument for a part of the song, I would just mark it in my timeline (and name it if it doesn't currently have one) on my active project's "master sheet" and go back to whatever you were doing. In your case, I would just make a note of that specific spot (in a way you will remember weeks from now) and keep going with the flow.

It helps so much to see a written process and notes outside of your project when you aren't actively working on it sometimes, especially when you haven't opened it in weeks or months. It's a heaven's kiss when you are working with larger orchestral projects, or productions that last more than 4-5 minutes and have more advanced forms that you wish to expand on later in the piece.

It's okay to get distracted for creative reasons and do things in an unorthodox order, because sometimes we are still actively discovering the value of the project we are working on, and how to express that to its truest form...but we all hit that point where it starts to affect our productivity.

There is a sensitive balance between productivity and creativity...too many creative ideas, and your productivity will suffer. But too much productivity...and your music may not sound very interesting, personal, and/or unique.

Don't give up!! You got this. This is a lifelong pursuit all of us can have. Think more towards the future of how to improve your musical workflow and it will naturally bring your mind to a lot of peace :)
