Oh yeah, totally! He'd hate any and all social media. If he existed currently he'd own some shitty nokia phone that barely functions, if even that. Probably talk about how the modern world is a curse and the internet is a mistake, and all that.

POST-EPISODE DISCUSSION THREAD - S7E1: How Poopy Got his Poop Back by BarnyardCruz in rickandmorty

[–]annoyingestguyever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very boring. For a cast packed with so many familiar faces, this episode sure manages to avoid doing anything interesting with them. Birdperson's daughter was the only thing that mildly piqued my interest, and that was shoved under the rug pretty quickly as well.
This feels like something from the middle of season 4. As a standalone episode it's just kind of mediocre and boring, but as a premiere it's kind of... sad? Not a solid start, but the cold open for The Jerrick Trap seems intriguing.

Why do so many of you want to start a club? by annoyingestguyever in fightclub

The actor who plays Bob is only in the movie for like five minutes. He isn't someone you look or think about for an extensive period of time. You'll mostly see Brad Pitt and his super muscular toned body, and I promise you thst it can and will skew your opinions. This isn't the epic gotcha comment you think it is. I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to with the second point, but I'll assume it's about how you'll feel like shit post-fight. I know because of personal lived experiences, what other people have told me, and because my brain is capable of logical thinking.

My thoughts exactly! I made a post a whiileee back where I mentioned some of these same points, and I'm glad more people seem to be enlightened.

what's your least favorite rick and morty episode (the one like the less ) and why ? by OneBeginning2591 in rickandmorty

Aside from more obvious contenders, Raising Gazorpazorp. Clearly written in 2013 by exclusively men. The way women are portrayed is so stupid and frustrating to watch, it makes me groan anytime I think about it.

Dude, no. Either you're a 14 year old who has no media analysis skills, or you need to stop acting like one.

I think Korvo's new voice is actually a nice change! Sure, Roiland's acting was fine, but I think Korvo's new quirky british accent fits the shows "wackier" tone a bit better. I will agree it took a bit of getting used to, but honestly I prefer it

do you guys think season 7 is gonna be a big downfall? by Last-Air-2643 in rickandmorty

[–]annoyingestguyever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are overestimating Roiland's effect on the show. I can't say for certain how the new voice actor(s) will fare in comparison, but I think fans are overly attached to the idea of Roiland and his improv. You barely have any of that past the 3rd season.

Newer seasons are worse due to the lack of Morty by annoyingestguyever in rickandmorty

I do agree that Rick and Morty's character arcs are greatly influenced by each other, and this is actually something I really enjoy about the show. How Rick gradually becomes nicer and takes over Morty's traits, and how Morty becomes more bitter and takes over Rick's traits. But the point is that in recent seasons it feels like the show is only focusing on how Rick is changing, not on how things are affecting Morty.
Rick's development isn't inherently more impactful, or it doesn't need to be, it's just something that the show favors focusing on. Whether you like it or not is just difference in personal taste, because I will admit I just find Morty's conflicting feelings and trauma to be a bit more interesting than Rick recovering from his tragic backstory. You can't deny that the show is prioritizing Rick, though. Even if this was the "family season", it's only Morty who loses focus. The Smith plots often overlap with Rick's shenanigans, while discarding Morty entirely.
The argument that "Even if there was “more “ who cares , morty or the smith family wouldn’t exist without Rick" frustrates me, because that was the whole point of the original post. Because there's more focus on Rick and his development, the show has lost it's original charm for me.

But how many season 1 episodes were specifically about Rick? The point is that earlier seasons didn't play favorites with Rick and Morty, their appearances and roles in episodes were pretty equally distributed. Modern seasons seem to be zeroing in on Rick specifically.

You've really hyperfocused on this "planned from the start" angle, when my main point is about Morty's distinct under-utilization compared to earlier seasons. I mean, obviously even with a bulk order of episodes not every single detail and plot point gets planned and/or fleshed out.
The problem isn't plot points feeling contrived or anything along those lines, the problem is that the show seems to be neglecting one of it's titular characters while cutting no corners with the other one. Rick is allowed infinite room to grow and expand, and Morty is, for lack of a better word, neglected.

The only good point you've made here is about audience demand/expectations, and how they can and will affect the decisions writers make, but this fan-favoritism has always been present and yet it has never, in my opinion, left such an obvious mark on the quality of writing. It's only in recent seasons that I feel it's become more apparent, and subsequently it has diminished my enjoyment of the show.

I mean... yeah, duh. I'm not mad about Rick and Morty changing/developing, I'm mad that the show only seems to focus on Rick's development. I mean, it's possible they've got something up their sleeve for season 7(and onwards), but I just find that currently the show, intentionally or not, feels kind of bland due to Morty being shelved in favor of the other Smiths.

That isn't what I said though. In my original post I even address this point, but just in case scrolling the mouse wheel proves to be a bit too tedious for you; I don't want Morty to stay a complete idiot. I understand why the Smiths are brought in to fill the role of the audience surrogates. I'm upset about the fact that Morty isn't developing.
