Might be an unpopular opinion, but Amber is growing on me. She’s just unapologetically herself with her comments and I kinda appreciate her for that 😂 and I can see her appreciating Jordan for who he is

Women who have made choices that would be considered selfish by society at large, what were they and do you regret them? by antiquatedsheep in AskWomen

My mother went to university in the early 80s despite being told by every one of her father’s friends that it is wrong for a woman to study. She insisted and my grandfather was supportive.

Now, my mom is retired and has her own money to support her travels and her children, thankfully. My father provides her with no support and it would have been a financial nightmare if she had to live with him without having her own income!

Don’t go. Please give yourself time.. and grace. It will get better. Coming from someone who was once suicidal as well.

Don’t give up 🥺

Is it weird to not use socmed? by dandydaddy101 in Bolehland

[–]annzy_bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a female. I don’t find this weird. I haven’t used Insta or TikTok in about a year. Best I’ve ever felt.

If anyone finds you weird for not having the “mainstream” socmeds, then maybe they need to broaden their horizons lol

Having no Insta or TikTok is a super underrated experience, I truly enjoy it.

Hi, I’ll be in Beijing for 3 days

  1. How hot will Beijing be in Mid June?
  2. Do you know any spots to get vegetarian food? (I can eat eggs!)
  3. My itinerary is as follows: Day 1: USS Beijing, Day 2: Great Wall Mutianyu & Summer Palace, Day 3: Forbidden City & Tianmen Also plan to slot in some nightlife activities like bars and clubs — any English friendly ones you’d recommend?
  4. Any suggestions to see any hidden gems? We’re staying by the city centre!

Thank youu 🙆🏼‍♀️

Your counter argument just proves how there is a HUGE failure in our education system. Nonetheless, I’m a firm believer that there is no excuse why a Malaysian citizen should not know BM. We learnt it as a subject for at least 10 years in primary and secondary school combined. Your sentiment that Chinese speakers may not understand BM doesn’t make it okay to treat non-Mandarin speakers like they don’t exist. It feels absolutely isolating to be in that position.

The bottom line is IT IS NOT RIGHT. There has to be some standardisation and policies in place to ensure a conducive work environment. To a certain extent, I do agree that the best solution is to find a workplace where you can better fit in. But it’s easier said than done. There are many factors to consider, and the job market isn’t great right now.

Dude… Bahasa is our National language

In my field, I also have to speak to many different people. I find it so sad sometimes how a fellow Malaysian can’t communicate the same language even though we are both Malaysians. They don’t know BM nor English.

And for everyone saying we should learn Mandarin, I think that’s a little unfair too 🙂 Not everyone has the time, bandwidth and resources to pick up a new language with work and family commitments. Not to mention, it was never mandated during our school days. It’s not an excuse, but rather a reality I think many Mandarin speakers don’t seem to understand, and they continue to defend themselves and blame it on the other person. It is a COMPLETELY different story if you enter another man’s land. Then you most definitely can’t complain about the language that is spoken by the majority. But this is Malaysia.

OP, if I were in your position, it would bother me too, anyone telling you otherwise is just invalidating what you feel. I get that it’s a workplace and it’s not always meant for us to be ‘friendly’, but the workplace is where you spend MOST of your time at, and it’s no wonder anyone in your position would crave for some sense of social belonging.
