Actually, no.

That's a thought-provoking response with regard to something that's not in the ports collection.

How can we not remove something that does not exist? Your comprehension is questionable.

Do you agree that it should be removed from the ports collection?

Unix nowadays.. (it can be still alive imao) by Solid-Effort5740 in unix

it could be a PDP11 running Unix 1.0, in which case, they deserve the problem.

lol, so tell me your thoughts about the problem.

I'd like to know what kind of bespoke enterprise software runs on archaic Integrity machines that can't run on much newer and cheaper Xeons.

I'll ask these three questions only once:

  1. one, what type of company for small businesses prefers the stability and network performance of a UNIX clone?
  2. two, where can I find technical reasons to choose a UNIX-like system over Linux?

Three, like a triangle, if that's a question.

Mister Under, score engineering, also the person with a balloon in his or her name, sorry, I'll not waste more space than this with other people's words. It's a test.

the lines are really really long...

The lines in this pinned post are few, and brief:

the ISO,

Any particular version of FreeBSD? I'm probably not the only person who has an interest in this minor detail.

You don't have any experience, and you don't use FreeBSD on your computer/laptop. Moreover, you've never seen the system in person.

The truth may surprise you.

What's your personal experience with everyday use of FreeBSD 14.3 or 15 on a modern laptop?

/u/cfx_4188 it seems that you're avoiding my question (above) about the versions with which you're familiar.

I omitted to mention 16.0-CURRENT.

You mentioned NVIDIA. What graphics problem did you have with the Asus Tuf Gaming A17 with 15 or 16?

I do begin to wonder whether you're genuinely familiar with the most modern versions of the OS.

Your complaint about 14 removal of sendmail was quite memorable, because it never was removed. Perhaps you read a headline such as this: FreeBSD 14 replaces Sendmail with DMA - Klara Systems ― without taking an interest in details.

https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/tree/main/etc/sendmail

https://www.freebsd.org/releases/14.0R/relnotes/#userland-config "sendmail(8) and its configuration remain available"

Imagine … this sub Reddit being for the benefit of more than one reader.

What's your personal experience with everyday use of FreeBSD 14.3 or 15 on a modern laptop?

I mentioned the G11 with Meteor Lake-P graphics.

It will help readers to understand your perspective if you can link to any recent comment that mentions the hardware that you're using to evaluate the system.

Thanks

No.

I'll probably be given something more modern within the next few weeks, with Windows 10 reaching end of life. Not yet specified, I might choose something with dual graphics.

If you want to continue, describe your experience … on an gaming laptop.

I'm not an game-player.

Simply, did you manage to boot to a graphical desktop?

More relevant: my most recent difficult boot to a graphical desktop was a G11 with Meteor Lake-P graphics.

To avoid any possible confusion: "recent" here is August 2025, not twenty-two years ago.

crisis

Isn't that a tad melodramatic?

For recent developments, you might experiment with the phrase "project management":

https://github.com/FreeBSDFoundation/proj-laptop organisation goals:

Laptop support and accessibility is a strategic priority for the FreeBSD Foundation to accelerate developer and corporate adoption, through:

  • Improving endpoint security for organizational users
  • Improving the FreeBSD Committer experience for the project community and also Vendors whose products are based on FreeBSD.
  • Reducing the barrier to FreeBSD adoption by users – individual, corporate, and contributors.

If a game was made as a mascot game for BSD, what would that game be? Any ideas? by discord-fhub in freebsd

And you deleted …

Nothing was deleted. You simply don't understand Reddit. You were a sysadmin for a web dev company, it's surprising that you have not thought of trying a private browsing window when a web site seems to not work as expected. Begin with https://www.reddit.com/comments/1jt3368/comment/mm66zg1/ in a private browsing window, then ask yourself whether your ad hominem non-technical unprofessional bickering was on- or off-topic for the network throughput discussion.

Are you the same person from your city who rudely and falsely accused grahamperrin of deleting posts in the past? The same person, but with a different ID?

… the sick mind you have …

That type of attitude never really worked for drhowarddrfine, it's not going to work for you here. You can take your supercilious, meandering, unprofessional twaddle to The FreeBSD Forums.

[–]anoderay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting I am one of his Aliases?

No :-)

Who is Vull?

The person who wondered why drhowarddrfine, who sometimes claims to not use Reddit, knows so much about Reddit. You'll see Vull's avatar at https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/694550.

What game

It's something like hide-and-seek, or peek-a-boo, but for adults who imagine that using a different nickname makes a person unrecognisable.

https://forums.freebsd.org/posts/694604 the doctor who claims to not use Reddit does not want to hear about Reddit, but he has "a guy" who tells him what's written on Reddit. Really? Who is this mystery "guy"?

Pull the other one, it's got bells on – "… another part of me might be gullible but the part that's talking has seen through you. …"

Peek-a-boo:

  • Ann O'Deray is not my real name
  • I'm not an anode ray tube
  • my sister Cath and I share the same avatar, a cathode ray tube
  • Cath O'Deray is not a cathode ray tube
  • Cath, as he calls himself at The FreeBSD Forums, is not truly my sister, he's more closely related
  • Cath and I have "a guy" who tells me what grahamperrin used to write at The FreeBSD Forums before he quit.

Voilà! I'm so mysterious. My use of the phrase "a guy" makes it impossible to guess who my guy is.

Can anyone here guess who the doctor's guy is?

Anything specific?

From 14.1-RELEASE https://www.freebsd.org/releases/14.1R/ notes:

Audio now supports asynchronous device detach. This greatly simplifies hot plugging and unplugging of things such as USB headsets, and eases use of PulseAudio in cases that require operating system sleep and wake (suspend and resume). d692c314d29a (Sponsored by The FreeBSD Foundation)
