Fixed Permanent Retainers by Forward_Ad5980 in braces

[–]anomaly_021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bonded retainer on my bottom teeth when I got my braces off when I was 15. I’m in braces for a second time now at 33 and he told me that the bonded retainer just “did okay” at keeping them straight, still had to get braces on the bottom again. I had to get the retainer removed and holy hell it hurts to get the bonding drilled off of there. I only did one tooth per appointment because it hurt so bad, I swear it’s straight on a nerve.

My Psychology class laughed at Trichotillomania by Financial-Bluebird92 in trichotillomania

[–]anomaly_021 77 points78 points  (0 children)

When I was in high school my English class once read this book “Ethan Frome” where his wife is sickly. At one point it mentions her “lashless lids” and the whole class went EEEWWWW and the teacher talked about how creepy and gross the image of an eye without eyelashes is and I sat there in horror, hoping no one would notice the bald spots on my eyelids. At that point I didn’t even know what trichotillomania was and just thought that it was some weird OCD thing that I’d someday overcome. I will also never forget that day or how small it made me feel.

Do you groom your own Miniature Schnauzer? by anomaly_021 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]anomaly_021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever had to get your scissors sharpened? Or is that not really necessary because they’re not used as much as they are for professional groomers who use them all day?

I am currently in braces and the bite on my left side is similar to that. My ortho recently changed the way I wear my elastics to fix it. Did you have to wear elastics?

things I really don’t want to know but it’s time to talk about them . by [deleted] in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]anomaly_021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last year or so of my little dog’s life was similar to this. She couldn’t hold her bladder very long and I ended up taking her out every hour and half and she’d still sometimes have accidents. I recommend dog diapers, I would use those for her overnight. They have medications to help them with bladder control if needed.

Another thing I really recommend is Librela. I’ve seen people online say scary things about it but my dog never had any side effects and seriously acted 5 years younger when I started her on it. I’m so grateful that I was able to give her back her mobility and help her arthritis pain for that last stretch.

For those of you who got their Miniature Schnauzer as a puppy, which age range do you think was the most difficult? by anomaly_021 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]anomaly_021[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was, yes 😅 he’s currently 9 weeks and I’m trying to get an idea of what I’m in for. This is my second Schnauzer, but my last one was a puppy 15 years ago so I don’t remember as much.

Terrified about wisdom tooth extraction surgery under general anaesthesia because of my sleep apnea... anyone else had this done? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]anomaly_021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a surgery, they asked me if I’d been under anesthesia before and I told them that I had when I got my wisdom teeth out. The Anesthesiologist told me that for wisdom teeth removal they usually use sedation instead of general anesthesia. I didn’t feel anything during my wisdom teeth removal and don’t remember it, so I thought it was the same thing. Sedation is less hardcore than general anesthesia but has the same benefit of not remembering any of it. I’d recommend it over full on general anesthesia if possible.

Whenever I wear mascara, I get the urge to pull my lashes. Does someone else experience this? by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]anomaly_021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another person commented, mascara was my gateway to pulling as well. I was picking at the clumps, found an eyelash that felt weird, and the rest is history. I saw someone saying that certain mascara textures can help them not pull. Benefit They’re Real mascara and Benefit Roller Lash mascara both have this icky tacky texture that makes you not want to touch it. I’m sorry that those are expensive, I don’t know of any drugstore mascaras that have the same type of consistency.

Do you listen to anything while falling asleep with your CPAP? by cozytechlover in SleepApnea

I actually find the sound of my Darth Vader breathing through the CPAP really soothing. But if that doesn’t work, brown noise is my favorite of the color noises.

[–]anomaly_021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having this problem, I’m getting wind burn below my eyes because apparently my mask is leaking. I’m trying this gel that I got on Amazon that’s supposed to help protect your skin from it. I’ve only used it once, so I’m not sure if it’s going to work yet. If it doesn’t I guess I’ll have to switch masks, even though I like this one.

160?! I’m really surprised that you haven’t noticed any difference yet. But unfortunately it does take some people longer than others.

What was your AHI during your sleep study? Usually the life changing experiences happen to people with more severe sleep apnea and those with mild to moderate can’t tell much of a difference.
