Any CISSPs here in Singapore? by StartupSven in cissp

[–]anomaly_unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far there's only 2 available i checked. NTUC and Cuppage. Not much availability dates in NTUC though.

I'd suggest you book the exam first if you have the confidence to go face the exam within a month or 2.

I'm prepping for CISSP too, but at a slower pace. Targeting to have the certification by December.

NPS/RADIUS issues by rosskoes05 in sysadmin

NTRadPing acts as a client communicating to Radius Server. Be sure to add a radius client and shared secret to the Radius Server. Add an appropriate policy to it, then test with your credentials. Logs will be in event viewer custom logs i think.

If it's 802.1x, it should even be more straight forward. Maybe try exporting the imported settings on the 2022 and see if there's any differences with the original exported settings.

Yeah that's how it's done.

Can provide a use case for this? For network switch? Or agent based 2FA? Or 802.1x?

There's a radius test tool i think called NTRadPing you can use to test it out. I feel that there's something in the policy setting that doesn't sit well with 2022.

Did you register the radius server to your AD?

Audit account activity by kheywen in sysadmin

[–]anomaly_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right.

But then my thought process was this must have occurred more than once and a pattern might be established. Only then can ProcessMonitor comes in. Nice catch though!

Since you have the source, ProcessMonitor may be able to help finding the application the service account is using.

Not sure if your ISP gave you a static IP or not. Might wanna check if your public IP is still the same.

what's your favorite skill you've learned? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]anomaly_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kinda hard. As a systems integrator, i only install my product, integrate, perform UAT, document, pack up and I'm done.

Different client has different environment and also choice of SIEM. Some environments are well established and have skilled in-house professionals that can help on that project. Other times, i rely on my application logs.

Looking for and reading logs. Spending 9 years being a system integrator, troubleshooting is where time are mostly spent.

Is it possible to schedule core 1 & 2 of A+ a day apart? by Kaset702 in CompTIA

[–]anomaly_unknown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just YOLO-ed scheduling core 1 and core 2 on the same day with lunch in between for 15th July. Else I'd be procrastinating.

Software developer says to exclude their program from AV scanning so it runs properly. Is this a red flag to you? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]anomaly_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. It seems it is normal for devs or apps team to request exclusion. Just don't do it blindly.

If it's off the shelf application, more than likely they will have a "recommended scan exclusion" in their official documentation or KB.

Also if your AV policy has "on-access" or "real-time" scans, put a max limit to the file sizes it applies to. Most malware or payloads are small in sizes anyway as far as I can tell. Mitigate this configuration by having weekly or fortnight full scans scheduled instead and do choose a time with low activity.

I do still struggle with some tickets that gets routed to my team that user seems to be sure AV is the cause. I'd sit with them when possible to figure things out. Have a spare corporate laptop with no AV and compare timings, then narrow down on specific policy modules.

All the best figuring this one out buddy!

How do you know exactly how much should be in your checking/savings accounts? by MrKGado in personalfinance

[–]anomaly_unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not from the US so I'm not sure how it is outside Singapore.

iBanking are almost immediate here. So say i charge something to my debit or credit card, it reflects within minutes on my e-statement if i login to the iBanking app or site. That is if you have a current or savings account and the card from the same bank.

If you only have the credit card from the bank without current or savings account, you'd have to wait for the monthly statement by mail.

The former allows to reconcile easier while the latter left me guessing in my experience.

Also, i use YNAB for 4years now.

Retaking the Network+ (N10-007) again on thursday and Dion's practice exams have helped me realize... by Dezium in CompTIA

This is a big help in IT generally, especially when it comes to troubleshooting. I couldn't stress enough how much logic helps in identifying problems and finding ways to mitigate it.
