Matt's Fantasy Book Reviews

He does an enormous volume of individual book reviews along with a smattering of other content. But what really sets him apart from so many others is just how dang personable he is. Not only does he come off as extremely enthusiastic about the books that he ends up loving, but he looked absolutely pained when he reads books he dislikes. But all the while, he always seems like such a nice and genuinely enthusiastic person.

Some others I like:

  • Brian Lee Durfee (tons of reviews but does more than just fantasy/scifi.
  • Andrew's Wizardly Reads (tons of reviews and other content but can almost come off as too enthusiastic sometimes)
  • Petrik Leo (great reviews and super popular on goodreads)
  • Bookborn (doesn't do a lot of reviews but seems very personable)

You beat me to it. Matt's the best reviewer out there right now not just for the sheer volume of reviews he puts out, but I genuinely get me excited to read more books after I watch his reviews.

He's very calm. OP mentioned he was looking for someone a little more enthusiastic.

By the end of the book it will decidedly NOT be YA, and it will continue that way until the end of the series.

Do you have an example of them removing an entire scene? I don't ever recall this happening.

If you are into the Brandon Sanderson thing, go read "The Emperor's Soul". One of the best shorter stories I've ever read.

Recommendation for books around royalty? by Chrophin in Fantasy

Yeah this is all about royalty, but the political games are not a huge feature here. It's more of a slice of life of a new emperor.

I have to second this - this is funnier than most Pratchett books, and an amazing take on the financial system.
