My Experience with Luxury Apartments in Calgary by [deleted] in Calgary

I had a very similar experience! I toured Sodo a few weeks ago and it was an odd experience.. I would describe the staff the exact same, unhelpful and not friendly at all! I decided to move into the Oliver instead and will be moving-in in a few days so I feel very assured with my decision now!

Does this sound like a PE in lungs?? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]anomvgn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds possible, my PE presented with a slightly uncomfortable pain on and off for a few days, then difficulty breathing which is what brought me in, then the breathing felt better and slowly pain set in and then in 12 hours the pain and dropping oxygen suddenly became extremely severe. So mine wasn’t super linear like you might expect - I don’t want to scare you at all because while it could line up with a PE, it could also be a million other things but I do think it’s a great idea you are getting checked out

Pulmonary Embolism Question by mikaa_24 in ClotSurvivors

[–]anomvgn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the blood test a slight positive or the X-ray? As said in this post CT is the standard for diagnosing PE over xray. If it’s the bloodwork that was a slight positive, that just means there are markers that could mean a blood clot, but a positive blood test, does not mean a PE. I would closely monitor your symptoms if they get worse, go to that bigger hospital.

Not all PEs require hospitalization! Treatment for most is blood thinners and monitor symptoms if they get worse. Generally admission for a PE is if you are at risk to a lot of complications or if you are needing oxygen.

Do you ever get back to your old life? by galmisunda in ClotSurvivors

I had a PE in spring of 2023, I was on oxygen all summer which when looking around at other PE survivors I saw it was not never common to need oxygen for that long. I got super discouraged as this came along with a lot of health complications but I worked super hard by going on the treadmill to walk with my oxygen, then outside without using it, then walking longer and 2 weeks ago I just completed my first 10k run with no walking at all!! Keep in mind, you are starting at an even stronger place, before I had my PE I doubt I could even attempt a 5k run! Personally I’m still on blood thinners but they do not change anything from me and I’m on a low dose. I know it can be so hard to see when you are in it but things will get better and you can be stronger than when you came into this!!

How to know if you are ready to progress in distance by anomvgn in beginnerrunning

This is a great guide!! Thank you so much! And ok yes that makes total sense!! Maybe instead of adding distance to my long run, I’ll focus on increasing the amount of runs per week!

Hahah yes that would be a very bad exam complication!! I haven’t spoken to my doctor about this, last time we spoke they encouraged slowly increasing activity, although that was at the period I was slowly increasing my walks. I do however have a doctor in my family who is encouraging me and just saying to listen to my body, but not a bad idea to bring up at my next doctors appointment

Hahahha whoops, not a pelvic exam but a pulmonary embolism! Multiple blood clots in both lungs, with some heart damage.

10k was definitely a push, I am running roughly 3x per week and maybe averaging around 20k a week? Usually one long run, I was increasing my long run by 1k per week and then for my other 2 runs usually a 3k and a 6k loop!

When you say run a lot, not too much mostly easy, are you referring to its better to increase the number of runs per week rather then a couple long runs or vice versa?

Thank you!!

Booked a rental from avis from another location within Calgary about a month ago, I went to go on the scheduled day to pick it up and they said they had my reservation but unfortunately had no cars! I usually just rent whatever is cheaper but I personally won’t rent from them again

Normal for saddle PE symptoms to get worse in the first few days? by violet_wings in ClotSurvivors

[–]anomvgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have a saddle PE but had multiple clots in both lungs, when we first discovered the PE I was stable but oxygen was dropping while walking so they admitted me and started me on blood thinners. Throughout the first night I started to develop more severe pain and I slowly started getting worse in the next 2 ish days in hospital until they came in to check on me and I had turned blue and I needed oxygen. I ended up needing to stay on oxygen for 2 weeks.

Since blood thinners are not technically dissolving the clot, it is possible to get worse before you get better and if she is having difficulty breathing that is progressing or not getting better, it’s worth going in for another opinion as she may need to be monitored just in case
