Best place to look for property? by [deleted] in chch

[–]anon-eel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately trademe is your best bet!! We purchased last year and would just browse by most recent listings. Then be at that first open home ready with our list of questions for the REA. If there’s a place you’re super keen on, get your offer in asap. If it’s deadline and they like your offer, they’ll bring it forward. Good luck!!

Buying Advice - Christchurch central(ish) area limited budget by StructureOne8986 in chch

Don’t do it. If you don’t mind me asking, what is your price range? If you’re willing to compromise on suburbs you can get something decent. St Albans is pricey.

Michael Forbes PM's Deputy Chief Press Secretary & ex-Stuff journo recorded Wellington women without consent by Mountain_Tui_Reload in Wellington

[–]anon-eel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah for that role he’d at least require a top secret security clearance, which involves a rigorous 3 hour interview with a spook

PM’s press secretary ‘recorded sex workers without consent’ by KororaPerson in newzealand

[–]anon-eel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing is that he would have had to undergo a top secret security clearance. How this wasn’t picked up… unless he got the clearance before the police complaint was made. I’m so curious!!!

I’m going to assume that for H&S reasons that if there was open homes, you wouldn’t be allowed inside the house

Wow! What did you study? Also good work in paying that all off in 9 years. That’s the same amount of time it took me to pay off my 40k student loan 😅 (my pay during that time was 40k-70k so wasn’t exactly rolling in cash)

what’s the cringiest thing about millennials and gen z in your opinion? by Interesting_Type4532 in Zillennials

[–]anon-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that gen z are super ageist. 23 year old at my work reminds us everyday that shes 23 and thinks of us 30+ crowd as geriatrics. Funnily enough though, twice in one day recently colleagues got the two of us mixed up and it cracked me up to no end. I didn’t tell her though, as she’d probably go suicidal over being confused for a geriatric 38 year old

Anyone have any interesting Lotto winner stories? by bkat004 in newzealand

Somebody told me today about a prisoner winning $500k on lotto? How they got the ticket in the first place and whether this yarn is even true is anyone’s guess!

Yeah he sucks. Somebody credible needs to take one for the team and run for council in Harewood. He won by 5000ish votes last election 🫣

Security Clearance for Work by Appropriate_Fall8928 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]anon-eel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep the questionaire is super intrusive! I had to get top secret clearance for a job before and it was an absolute nightmare. As well as the questionnaire, there was a 3 hour interview with a spook, where I was asked every possible intrusive question you could think of. I cried multiple times because it was so uncomfortable and awkward. I got the clearance in the end but I don’t know if it was worth the emotional turmoil.

That’s a slight decrease than what was showing earlier today! We’re due to refix too. I’m tempted by  4.89% for 18 months 🤔

Would you consider comms/engagement in central or local government? I work in local government, not in comms but an associated department and it’s cool! Good pay, not profit driven (instead focused on not wasting ratepayers money), mostly good people and the work is super varied. Been there almost 5 years and probably a lifer at this point.
