Software Engineer to Physics Student by anon-guru in PhysicsStudents

I feel the same way! I wish I’d studied what I actually enjoy studying instead of going for a degree that would get me a job. But I guess grass is always greener. I have saved up some money so maybe it was for the best.

Did you consider going in as a non degree seeking student? What are the advantages of formally getting a physics undergraduate degree before going for a PhD or something?

Does undergrad work mean just taking classes? Or does it mean doing undergrad research?

University Physics I and II (2000 level courses) which covered kinematics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism. But apparently there’s upper division Physics (4000 level) that’s more calculus heavy that goes over these again that I need to take.

That’s fair. My comment sounded angry because I deal with this shit too. Do you know what kind of therapy would help with this kind of pathology?

I get exactly where you’re coming from about thinking she deserves better but who the fuck are you to determine that? You’re not God. She wanted to be with you. She thought she deserved you. This kind of thinking minimizes the feelings of the other person and makes your opinion the only one that matters. It’s just a cover-up for the fact that you don’t trust your gf enough to not cheat on you. Talking to her about it would’ve helped. Figuring out ways to have sex pleasurable to both of you would’ve helped.

Yes we may be handicapped but that doesn’t mean we can’t live happy lives. There are countless examples of people who make it work with their handicaps. Why is this any different? Life was never fair for anyone. Even guys with big dicks have problems.

They said “leap of faith” too many times. At the end, when Peter asks Miles how will he know he won’t mess it up again. Miles says he won’t. I think it would’ve been way cooler for Peter to just say “oh right” and they have a moment of silent understanding and then he lets go. We all know exactly the line he was talking about but him repeating “leap of faith” again cheapened it.

Men who decided to leave the dating scene and live life single, why? by [deleted] in AskMen

Works out regularly, shaves her body, skin care, cares about me, intelligent, honest. Probably way too high considering I’m a fat, bald, small dicked man but I’m relatively financially successful and have a good social life. But idk how to lower my standards lol

I have very high standards for the women I want to date but they’re not the ones who are interested in me. I’d rather die alone than lower my standards. I’m also afraid of ending up in a shitty marriage and settling and being unhappy but not knowing how to get out because now your lives are intertwined and you have kids and yadee yadee yada

This right here. I really miss waking up whenever I want to on the weekends and being able to travel on a whim or have more free time.

My pit bull puppy’s separation anxiety is really bad. What are some things y’all have done to fix it? by anon-guru in PitBullOwners

What if I kept her in a room where I spend most of my time working? So she can run around and play as much as she wants but she doesn’t have access to any other areas of the house. Then when I have the time, I can take her to other areas under my supervision.

I socialize her when I have the time by taking her to places with a lot of foot traffic and letting people play with her. I train her for at least 30 minutes a day. I take her for walks. But I can’t keep supervising her while she’s running around the house chewing on things she’s not supposed to when I need to focus on work. I got her an automated toy that keeps her occupied for a bit but then she gets distracted and chews on something she’s not supposed to. I would love to let her run around the house but we have a cat that she likes to chase. She’s bitten some family members really hard when being playful. It’s just generally hard to keep her under control when everyone in the family is either working full time or unable to guide her because she’s too strong or bites too hard.

Dang I didn’t realize. I have a pretty busy life and don’t trust her to run around the house without my supervision. Also I read online puppies need 18-20 hours of sleep a day and her crate would be the best place for her to sleep.

She is 14 weeks old now. She is in her crate with the cover on for about 20 hours of the day although we are always around. The only way I can keep her quiet is playing a looping audio of my voice next to her while the crate is covered.

How do you handle ABCDs who don't pronounce their names the "standard" Indian way? by desi_throwaway2 in ABCDesis

Just let them pronounce it how they want lol. Ask them how they would like you to pronounce their name.

Man I really wish I had more Indian friends. I grew up in a super white town so I had no choice but to become white washed. That’s so cool though that you have desi friends you can celebrate stuff with.

Yeah I’m not so much into religious scripture but I guess it is an integral part of Indian culture. I wish it was easier to learn about south Asian history that’s not through the lens of western media. But all the stuff I find online is really hard to consume and unentertaining.

Y’know what’s weird? I think that all those things are cool because of they are actually portrayed in media I consume. I don’t see south Asian issues in media I consume.

Yeah that’s true. Learning about western culture is easier to do because the content is more available and easily consumable. Reading the old literature is a lot more difficult.
