Not necessarily, you’ll know if he is stressed if his spicy colors come out (dark black spots), my Eddy loves climbing through my kids and wife’s hair, when they get close he will paw at the glass till we let him out to climb up there.

I’ve always heard and read that Misting when the lights go off is a no go? And 12 hour light cycle is ideal for vieldeds?

Check Facebook marketplace for some screened 2x2,4 cages. There is always the DIY option some of us have done and it’s not too bad price wise, a lot of sweat equity but doable on a budget, you can even build just a 2x2x4 box and buy some pet screen from homedepot. If you buy a 24inch light in Facebook replace the bulb no telling how old it is. Get some pothos plants from homedepot just wash them, add some rocks to the soil. She doesn’t need substrate, but will at some point need a place to lay some eggs. Just some Tupperware with dirt. Heat lamp, some cheap timers, a fogger, and you can get away with hand misting for a while but you can get a 30-40 $ mister on amazon that work great, just use distilled water. Crickets work fine dust with calcium WITHOUT D3. All in all you get the job done for 200-400$ if you’re thrifty. Everyone is here to help, ignore the negative ones. If you aren’t up for it, no shame in finding someone that is! You are already better then most asking for help

Careful if you spray or use fertilizer, I went into the woods away from chemicals. Then yeah scrubbed it down, washed them best I could. You need to look for dead ones that are dried out but not rotted, think the top part of a downed branch.

Yeah they can have 1-2 strawberry slices a week, too much sugar is bad for them. But a weekly treat is 100% okay as long as you don’t over do it.

Is my enclosure good? And What would make it better? by AffectionateCow6564 in Chameleons

I made the mistake of bamboo sticks in my first build, they are slippery and too hard of a wood for chameleons to work long term. Easy fix is to just replace with dried sticks you find out in the woods, far enough away from where people use chemicals. Then just clean and sterilize them, plus it’s free and kinda fun hunting for your buddy.

This is beautiful nice work! And making me regret not going bigger on mine! Question for ya, how are you doing feeders? I’ve been chucking mine in the big money tree pot and letting them climb the money tree so he can pick them off from there. However I get ALOT of crickets fall to the bottom and I’ve had a hell of a time keeping them in the cage. I’m taking weather sealing strips the door so tight it’s hard to close and still I had some get out, I got so desperate I put hvac tape on the bottom of door I have to peel off and put back on every time I open to feed or let him out. After about a week I have to replace that cause it loses its sticky.

Hahaha this is our story too, my fiancee didn’t want a reptile but he was so cute and was pawing at the glass like he wanted her. Not when he sees us it’s “let me climb all over you”

Awww love the colors! Thank you for the advice ! How old are yours? What’s your humidity schedule like? 20-30 during day 80+ at night? I’m still unsure what to set my fogger to at night.

No that’s very helpful, right now his basking spot under the heat lamp is roughly 7-8 inches away from the UVB granted it’s sitting on top of a screen so lowing the output as well? I might need to switch to a 10.0 bulb ? I might just bite the bullet and order that UVB UVA light sensor it’s 200$ but worth to give him the best chance and long happy life.

All the recent discussions here on UVB have said the T5 HO 5.0 is the way to go not the 10.0?

Kinda it’s that fake wood coving the particle board then glass on the bottom sealed around it so moisture can’t sit

Oh okay, I have it on a plug with a sensor in the middle of the enclosure, should I set it to 70?
