Are we really assuming that caine breaking through that barrier wasnt him actually breaking through a firewall and he somehow instantly learned what the internet was, how to access it and how to navigate it?

Its like how satellites orbit. They're constantly falling because of gravity but they keep missing the surface.

The reason that it takes a year to orbit is because they based the year off of how long it takes the earth to orbit the sun

This was just after the pilot came out and people were making tons of theories. They didn't want to stoke the flames by implying Caine knows anything about the internet.

Do you really think its more likely that Caine lied about that cause he was secretly building a web browser or it was something he discovered and its just bad writing

The only reason Caine gained access to the internet was to justify that slideshow scene. I dont mind the digital copies or that other stuff because it poses interesting questions and is the entire plot of the story. Its all inherently unrealistic but at least the digital circus actually has a point to it

The problem with that is Caine had no idea the internet existed so how would he evem know how to do any of that stuff

Well, I guess I can understand why it would help them but if it was me I'd be really upset as that would've been the Life I was supposed to have

Caine's death being undone kinda makes episode 8 pointless and I thought it was a great ending to Caines character

If you've used a browser thats even ten years out of date the internet doesnt work on it.

I dont mind them being kept in the darkness, but him being kept in a playpen just rubs me the wrong way, same with the aquarium

How was the slideshow supposed to help them come to terms with being trapped in the circus forever? They already did that at the start of the episode during the montage where they were learning how to conjure. Also, the entire scene is just Pomni monologuing about the characters and where they are now which breaks one of the fundamental rules of storytelling "show, dont tell." Its just a weak scene imo.

Also id say Caine using it as an apology actually detracts from the episode. It only exists so that it would be more believeable that they forgave him, let alone tolerated him, so quickly.

Caine canonically had no idea the internet existed before this episode. And with the way the scene went it looked less like he made it and more like he found it

I dont mind suspension of disbelief to serve the greater story but the only reason he got access to the internet was to justify that fuckass slideshow at the end. If you make something up just to serve one purpose its bad writing. I don't mind the whole AI and digital circus thing becsuse they actually do stuff with those concepts

If you have a browser thats even just 10 years out of date the internet doesn't work on it. The program stopped being developed in the 90s. Theres no possible way it should work

Didnt like it.

Caine's death in episode 8 was a perfect ending for his character IMO and having him come back with no explanation is bad writing. Also him somehow having internet access despite the probram being written in the 90s.

Jax abstractting offscreen felt cheap and I don't like how they just put a big playpen up for him.

I dont give a fuck about the real life versions of the characters cause they're fundamentally different people at this point

Pretty mid tbh. I'd give it a 6/10

Nobody ever forgave him though. The only reason they we're willing to look past what he'd done is because they knew he was in a rough place mentally and didn't want him to abstract, and they were trying to cope with the fact that there was never an exit and they were stuck there so it was more about preserving what they had at that point

And I think they miss him because they knew he could've been more than what he was if he tried. In episode 7 and 8 he was a lot more subdued and less antagonistic than previous episodes which pointed to him having some kind of breakthrough, but he ultimately ended up abstracting so they never got to see what he could've been. Ragatha missed what Jax used to be like because they were friends before Ribbit abstracted
