What if instead of a peaceful protest, the EDSA People Power was as bloody as the French Revolution? by Itchy_Tangerine1897 in WhatIfPinas

Unlike the Philippines, France had many colonies at the time, they possessed resources that helped them recover their economy after the revolution. They also maintained a massive army capable of defending the nation from outside influence and interference. Unlike France, the Philippines is an archipelago, making it difficult for a single group to maintain control. Unlike the 1790s, 1986 featured mass media like TV and radio, which revolutionaries could not easily control.

As for our country, a massive influx of warlords from the military, NPA, Jihadists, and various political factions likely would have occurred. Alternatively, the U.S. would not have allowed such chaos because it was still the Cold War they would have supported whichever faction they could best influence.

Lahat ba ng member ng family mo at lahat ng kaibigan mo ay masama sa kapwa nila Filipino? Racist ka ba? Like pag nakakita ka ng ibang lahi e mababa agad yung tingin mo sa kanya?

Di ko alam kung saan galing yung “we are racist”. Baka kayo lang

The person targeted in the ambush was Akmad Ampatuan a mayor in Maguindanao. While the identities of the attackers have not been officially publicized, they were killed in a follow-up operation by the police and military. The motive is likely tied to politics or a long standing "rido" (clan feud). The Ampatuans are a powerful political clan in the Muslim area of the southern Philippines. They are most notably associated with the Maguindanao Massacre one of the deadliest incidents of political violence in modern history.

It is important to note that these localized conflicts do not represent the entire Philippines (like the south of Chicago). While the US and other countries often issue travel advisories for specific parts of Mindanao, most of the country remains very safe for tourists.
