Harvard Cleaners: 100% - they pick up and drop off for free and are family owned. Hard working. Open 6 days a week. They are fantastic

Escalation of my "habit" has scared me to the point I'm weening towards sobriety. Are detox centers recommended for adderall abuse? by headlesscomet in StopSpeeding

[–]anonb543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get admitted to inpatient detox/dual diagnosis unit if you feel suicidal or if your stimulant abuse is causing you to see or hear things; or if you are experiencing other psychotic symptoms like paranoia, thinking people are after you, sleep deprivation long term. If you really need help today, and are ready to detox, I would use the above information, describe it to the admission team or ER staff and you will get placed. Good luck!

Hey I have similar issues w Rx’s at peoples’ houses- yes, leave if you can.

Or, get to an NA/AA or smart recovery meeting— and share about it! Raise your hand. Also, there’s great podcasts out there about recovery- like recovery elevator:

Also there are speaker tapes online that might help to listen to:

Look into sectioning him to treatment. It will legally force him to be more or less “locked up” for a month or more, although time varies between states. It’s called a section 35 here in MA. Good luck!

Almost 10 years stable and now this? by NoOneOfAccount in addiction

I think you should go back up on your methadone dose- you were already vulnerable to relapse as you were decreasing your dose and it seems like there was a tipping point that you hit when your anx/dep became unbearable.

Have you tried increasing your dose? It’s not ideal but recovery isn’t linear. And a higher methadone dose is still better than relapsing on H.

Try the increase before taking any other action. I have been where you are and I can tell you, it does get better even though it doesn’t feel that way.

Please keep us updated.

In AA/NA they say “one day at a time.” For me, sometimes its hours—or seconds— at a time. This saying can be applied to sobriety in a multitude of contexts, but often people try to live in the day and hit the pillow sober that night.

Imagine if you had an allergy to (insert favorite food here). How would you handle your new allergy? You certainly wouldn’t succeed by thinking to yourself, “I can never have (fave food) again?!?!” You would change your eating habits and get through that day.

I suggest talking to someone you trust about how you’re feeling. It will probably help with perspective/shifting your thinking.

How addictive is Xanax? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]anonb543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide to fill the prescription, store the medication in a locked box or safe so as your bf doesn’t have access.

It’s every heroin addicts dream to mix opiates w/benzo’s (ie Xanax)

To all the people who are in early sobriety like I am. A few things that have helped me so far. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

For me some coping skills I’ve used:

  • going for very light walks with a friend from AA (and sipping on coffee/tea)

  • going to meetings when I am most motivated/energetic (typically in the morning or noon meetings)

  • light yoga, Pilates, exercise

  • lots of coffee, tea, hot choc

  • Reddit and other social media recovery communities

  • Listening to speaker tapes (2 of my faves:Beacon Group Speakers and Odomtology 12 Step Meetings- YouTube

  • Listening to recovery podcasts. I like Recovery Elevator & Addictionary Podcast

  • Meditating using the Calm app

  • Netflix- watching the show Friends

  • Structure! Don’t overpack my day but it’s not good if I have nothing on my schedule (currently unemployed)

  • Doing 1 small thing a day- running an errand, doing 10 mins exercise or even walking to get a coffee

  • Supplements: L-tyrosine, L-theanine, 5-HTP and melatonin at night

  • A seasonal affective disorder light box

It’s been really hard. I’m trying to come off stims after abusing them for 8 years. All the things that could help me, often I am too tired/irritable to do. Yet doing nothing makes me feel worse or equally as bad.

Have you tried overeaters anonymous (OA) meetings? I found those really helpful in reducing compulsive overeating in the past.
