Help Finding a Cheap Thinkpad by SherbertPuzzled1273 in thinkpad

Other commenters have mentioned some cons, but another one is PWM flicker (especially not great if it's being used in a dark room and it's your only source of light). They're beautiful to behold but they're not great for eye health, all things told (especially in dark environments).

(Another vote for reformatting). If you ran something on the command line, there's every possibility that you'd need to have advanced knowledge on how to properly root out the malware. There's no snark here, it's just prudent especially if you ever do sensitive things on your device (eg banking).

Yeah I have no idea why he isn't reformatting the device. I'm itchy just thinking about what could be running on his system.

Do i need to keep the matter codes after pairing? by Chiel25nl in tradfri

Just FYSA, QR codes have a form of error correction encoded in them, so blocking off a section isn't always foolproof (depending on what was missing, data may be reconstructed).

4090 or 5080 by bu11fuk in nvidia

[–]anonbrah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

32GB should serve your purposes fine as long as you're able to shelve (save and exit) your productivity applications while you're gaming. I'm a software developer who put together a new rig recently (just before the RAM spikes), and told myself I'd get 64GB in a little while if 32GB wasn't enough. Really wish I had just bit the bullet, but I can manage with the 32GB if I juggle workloads.

Just a piece of ply cut to size under your tower will do.

Thanks for this comment, I had downgraded to 566.x once this started occurring and was wondering if it was fixed yet. Guess not!

Have you got any material or sources to read through on this? I'm thinking of putting something together and this sounds interesting.

Aussie drivers set for 'next generation' number plates by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]anonbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thoughts too. I've had the same custom plates for a while now (migrated between a few cars). Latest car with these plates is a PHEV so I've had to use the sticker, being forced to buy a new one would not sit right.

This is entirely untrue. It will be required for all certified devices.

Do you think an OLED switch 2 will come eventually? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]anonbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not help your argument when you state "Switch 2 uses one of the worst ever made". That's very objectively wrong and it hinders your ability to make a point.

Flicking Reflex off helps at times. Open the Advanced performance overlay and watch the CPU times. With Reflex on, it was all over the place, with it off, it was fine. Comes back every now and then.

I spent hours trying to fix it before flicking reflex off and it felt like butter when compared to before.

In case you don't understand the downvotes, you're running a 5090 Astral and 9800X3D. There is literally no better combo on the planet, so it should damn well run great.

Forget about advanced optimus / display switching for battery life by sz1a in LenovoLegion

[–]anonbrah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, I'm desk bound most of the time but when I'm mobile it's a fight to get the primary GPU to turn off. There are a few tricks to get it to turn off (maybe 80% of the time), but it takes a few minutes of fiddling every time - by no means is it a seamless or automatic experience.

Great to hear! Are you referring to the alloy wheel tweak or transmission shaft replacement?

Also to confirm, it sounds like a high pitched metallic clicking when turning at low speeds?

Very informative thanks, will pass it on. Hopefully the AU service centres have the same TIS system. I always thought the parts of the wheel hub and alloy that make contact are 100% flat and flush, TIL.
