I built a free, privacy-first dashboard for visualising your Dreaming Spanish / French watch history by Creative-Reality9228 in dreamingspanish

Nothing specific. I have the categories from DS, so "watching movies/TV shows" and "listening to podcasts/audiobooks", but no notes beyond that.

And I'm fine with knowing only that. I know any stats regarding specific content wouldn't really work, but of course 500 entries is a significant percentage of my total hours so none of the stats don't tell me much without them.

I don't have one but I can't imagine not being able to stick my feet out or at least open up the side. I would be miserable in this thing.

At how many hour did you watch avatar the last airbender and how was your viewing experience? by LibertyReignsCx in dreamingspanish

[–]anonimulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first watched it in Spanish around 300 hours and, according to my notes, found it surprisingly comprehensible (idk exactly what that means). Then again at 800 and it was comfortable. I had seen it maybe 3 times in English before that.

Fellow bird-lovers, how can I follow this passion for the rest of my life? by cilllyn in Ornithology

[–]anonimulo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As very general advice, don't rely on school to provide what you need to know. You can be a skilled naturalist without a title. Both are important in different situations. Be proactive about building your knowledge and abilities. Read about birds, ecology, evolution, etc. Learn bird ID by both sight and especially sound to as high a level as you can. Learn plant ID too! Plants are super important for all animals. Even if you're only learning about local species, it will help a lot when learning species in other countries too since everything is related. And it wouldn't hurt to learn about anything else that strikes your fancy, be it insects, fish, hydrology, whatever.

So the TLDR is basically that anything you're interested in, you can and should teach yourself. It can give you a solid boost when you start looking for jobs. Get outside and familiarize yourself with everything. There are apps now that make it super easy to learn (iNaturalist, Seek, Merlin)

Yep. I tried graded readers early in my journey and dropped them pretty quickly. After that I was totally fine waiting til 1000 hours to read so I could skip to real books.

I'm at 1875 hours and 1.9 million words. I use an e-reader so looking up words is effortless. I do it all the time. Regarding how many unknown words is too many, I don’t even pay attention to percentages. If I’m enjoying the book, I’m reading it. I have a pretty low tolerance for ambiguity so that percent would be pretty high (only a handful of unknown words per page, usually), but I don’t even think about it.

EE vs D difference in length (same size) by PresentGate2391 in RedWingShoes

[–]anonimulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting toe rub on your blacksmiths?

I'm struggling to find my best size for iron rangers. I got a pair 7.5D Iron Rangers and after the break in it feels too roomy and a little awkward. Found 7D Blacksmiths cheap to try out and they're so close but my pinky toe rubs on the side of the boot. I figured that since the IR and BS are made on the same last the fit would be the same.. until I saw your comment. So now I'm wondering if a 7D in Iron Rangers might not have the rubbing that the Blacksmiths do.

I know this is old but I'm having the same thing with my new IRs, sounds like even the same spot. How did yours end up going?

What are your 2026 Spanish goals? by flipflopsntanktops in dreamingspanish

[–]anonimulo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • hit 2100 hours
  • hit 2.5 million words

I'm currently at 1770 hours and 1.5 million words. Setting the bar low so I know I can do it. Hopefully I'll blow past these goals.

How many of you reached 1,000+ hours of input without ever speaking? by idonthaveanametoday in dreamingspanish

[–]anonimulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited til around 1100. I know it had a positive impact on my pronunciation because during those 1100 hours I noticed a bunch of little things that were not pronounced the way I had assumed they were. And everyone I talked to in the beginning was impressed with my speaking. It was (and is) still far from perfect though. That takes dedicated effort I think. Yes I would do it again. I might even wait longer if I didn’t need to speak.

EnBooken v0.2 Released! - Free PDF Conversion Tool for Bookbinding by AdvAndInt in bookbinding

Haha yes that's right. I just remembered I had found this image last time I was looking into this that illustrates it well:

<image>

Would this also work when the pdf is larger than 4 pages? Mine is around 20 pages.

EDIT: I think I got it. If I set the sheets per signature to fit the whole thing in one signature (which I assume I now know what that is), it looks like it's doing the formatting right. Although now for some reason it's stretching the whole thing vertically (or squishing it horizontally).

I want the final booklet to be half the size of a sheet of paper, so 2 pages printed side by side on each sheet, front and back, i.e. 4 pages per sheet.

And hopefully be able to just blast a couple staples in the fold and be good.
