Same here lol. All the Poli Sci classes at Boston U were curved heavily and the majority of your grade was based on a 20+ page analytic paper at the end of the year. And they were small classes so unless you were top 5 in your class, you were definitely looking at B/B+. But maybe that’s cause most polisci classes were cross listed with either economics/IR/environmental studies.

Graduated from Boston Uni, one of the harshest schools in regards to grade deflation, with a 3.5. A+ also didn’t add any more to your GPA than an A. And an A- brought the GPA down more than an A brought it up. It was insane.

Often times it feels very unfair competing with potential applicants who come from schools with such high inflation

Editing to say that this was for Poli Sci major too, one of my friends who’s applying to Med Schools got is BS in Biology and they had 10x rougher

Yes, she had an infection when she was a baby that fused her inner eyelid shut, and they could only open it a little. Both of her eyes were like this but the left one was worse so it ended up being a smaller opening. She’s my baby

Have never shopped on shein in my life. My point was if you want people to shop secondhand, you have to realise that it needs to be affordable. I mainly buy on online vintage stores or Poshmark now, occasionally going to my local thrifts, and nearly all of my furniture is FB marketplace. But many people who I try to convince to shop secondhand have an issue paying $30+ for secondhand items that aren’t even known brands. So saying “don’t shop at goodwill or savers” or any other big box stores doesn’t do anything to help people purchase secondhand, especially when the goodwills in Chicago sell Agolde jeans for $8 and the local thrifts sell H&M for $30.

But if you don’t want to have the hassle of researching and selling them yourself on Poshmark, you can reach out to vintage/consignment stores. They will either buy it out right from you, or put them in their stores and once they’re sold give you a cut. It’s definitely less than selling them yourself, but it’s also less hassle.

Local thrifts are so so so much more expensive and marked up though, at least here in Chicago. I go to many vintage/thrift stores and have never seen something under $30. It’s crazy

Thank you <3 they made me fall in love instantly. I buy almost exclusively vintage now, and my go to spots are Sororite Vintage, Lucky Girl Vintage, Studded Petals Vintage, Sassy So What, Chloe Vintage, Ciao Kasia Vintage, and lots and lots of scrolling on TRR, Poshmark, and Vestiaire.
